I ran across this. It was fun to see what games came from the Inuit.
I think there is an h2g2 entry on them. It may be another tribe. Looked similar to some I'd seen before, I thought you might enjoy it.
Amazing how old some of them are!

It is a legitament story? I have heard about it for years.
How far did games like those travel? Did they come this far south?

Questions for your return, if not now.

Co and Utah. There is quite a push to sell the mineral rights to private companies on the BLM lands of Co and Utah. They want to begin drilling in Colorado soon.

RAF Wing... Lookee I'm Invisible!!

Looks like somebody's trying to peddle tic-tac-toe games to me but then I'm just suspicious I guess.

They should be leaving those white buffs alone I think. Saw a greeting card once with White Buffalo Calf Woman emerging from the white buff's shoulder. Only problem was the buff was a bull, buh!!!

RAF Wing... Lookee I'm Invisible!!

It's a Lakota and Chischistas thing, Abbi.

Long time ago people are starving during the winter which is sort of usual but two hunters decide to help out. So they go hunting out on the prairie.

By and by they find a beautiful girl out there and one decides he needs to get warmed up so to speak. But when he touches her he turns into a heap of bones. So the other hunter decides maybe he should ask first. When he does she tells him she'll find him and the people plenty to eat but he needs to take her pipe back to the people so they'll know how to behave.

So she teaches him about the pipe and stuff and sends him back to the village with instructions on what to tell the people. And if he does all that then she'll meet him and his people at the same place in maybe three or four days and there'll be plenty to eat.

So he does like she says when he returns to the village. The people are sort of desperate so they do like he teaches them. Then they all go to the place where the hunters found the girl.

But instead of the girl they find a whole big herd of buffalo who they're able to kill and butcher. But one is a white calf and they decide maybe they should leave that one alone.

And sure enough that white calf changes into the girl and explains that as long as they become grass when they die and feed the buffalo and show respect for the buffalo people then the buffalo will let the people kill them and the people will never have to starve in the winter again.

That's the story that's been told a long time now. Now, there's probably parts I don't tell but that's out of respect okay?

So what do you think? Do you see why that greeting card was sort of ignorant? And that girl someone painted on that card looked pretty fashionable in her new buffalo robe too. Which sort of shows you how people abuse stories like that doesn't it? Why do they do that just to sell cards? Do they really think they're just stupid fairytales?

They're not you know? That story teaches people to respect women and buffs because otherwise the whole community can turn into a heap of bones out on the prairie, out of balance from both inside and outside the circle.

And it teaches how you keep your word so you can be included in the great circle of living things and how you shouldn't just think about indulging your selfish gratification when people are depending on you to help out.

That's what it teaches which are big lessons to learn and some people, not mentioning any names of course, still don't get it so they go peddle greeting cards and stuff.

Wonder how they'd like it if other people peddled greeting cards about their sacred stuff if they got any sacred stuff?

Thank you.

I figured I had not heard the truth
but a distorted version serving something other than intended.
