Listen, I need a bit of your vitriolic help.

Have you been following the "What's wrong with Americans?" thread? I got pissed off by this little post: F19585?thread=84337&post=3642942#p3642942 because it's just arrogance masquerading as tolerance. I got mad because, frankly, there are a lot better examples of ethnically diverse, and more importantly, peacefully ethnically diverse nations than the U. S. But I thought I'd leave it to you to comment on the suggestion that FordsTowel makes that "native Americans are immigrants".
What is it with Americans that even when they try to be nice they just come off as arrogant b@$t@rd$?

I was alright but I got over it after reading that post. I know it's not your fault but gawd I get so friggin tired of the same old crap over and over. It's like are they dense or what? Can't they figure out that they can be criminals or law abiding but not both? What's hard about getting the concept?

Anyways thanks for putting me on it. Not that it'll make any difference really. I can almost recite some of the responses by heart and Steve sure doesn't help by laughing it off but then he says I won't know so much when I get older. Sometimes I wonder how he got to be older. Fool's luck probably.

we're still having some troubles up here that most people don't seem to be noticing. There's a new big hydro deal between Ontario and Manitoba that's raising some aboriginal eyebrows and middle fingers but it hasn't got too much coverage yet.

I've been thinking a bit about some of the threads we've both been involved in (frustration) and the silly statements, claims, pronouncements, etc. to the effect that "that's ancient history, you can't hold me responsible for things that happened a hundred years before I was born, etc."

And I thought, listen, if you aren't willing to accept the burden of guilt and responsibility for history, why are you willing to accept the rewards?

If you're father turned a Jewish family in to the Nazis and the Nazis gave him the Jewish business as a reward, would you feel guilty when your father passed the business on to you? How about if a child of the Jewish victims showed up on your doorstep looking for a job?

I know I'm preaching to the converted, but I had to vent to someone. I just get so frustrated because it seems so obvious to me and so many people seem so bloody dense about it.

You're not bugging me. I've been pushing the same argument for quite awhile.

What you got to remember is these are probably the same people who buy stuff at flea markets for cents on the dollar knowing perfectly well it's being fenced by burglars or boosters. It's just somebody else's misfortune so why not?

I bet their ancestors picked through the ruins of destroyed villages for souveneirs too.

Of course if you call them scavengers or squatters they get real offended don't they?
