It's from Eliot...
Well, I have been duly punished for not posting a personal description quickly enough. One researcher seems to have already formed the impression I'm a fat, hairy (and possibly Irish?) man. Turns out to have been a case of mistaken identity, but alarming nonetheless!
Sorry to disappoint anyone, but I'm neither hairy nor male (nor Irish, as it happens). Perhaps not skinny, but surely only the most fascist of body-conscious would call me fat.
"Quest advanced."
Hubby's a computer game reviewer (among other things), so I'm used to having my train of thought supplemented by odd, and sometimes appropriate, declarations. The current job is Asheron's Call 2, which sounds like fun despite its hilariously somber tone and vexed responses. ("You do not have the correct quest status to perform that action," rather than "You can't pick that up.") But I digress....
I am an historian by trade and training. Which means that I teach college students, long to spend time studying and writing, and with every passing day become more aware of how little I really know about human life and society.
For those playing on other sites, I'm also known as foolishseeker on Beliefnet. You can call me foolishseeker, if you like, or fire/rose, or whatever you prefer.
Any questions? Answers? Theses? Dissertations? Diatribes?
OK, here's something.
A colleague of mine claims that walking close to walls is a sign of paranoia. He said this, of course, after catching me in the act. I maintain that since I was reading and walking at the same time, I was in fact performing a courtesy--holding to the wall to avoid running into people. Self-absorbed, I grant, but hardly paranoid!
I'm not sure, but I think he's out to get me now....

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
