I hope your absence means you are either getting some sleep or getting some garden or getting some RL fun. I'm off to bed shortly, so will catch up with in the morrow about the Announcement (did you see it?).

I'm now watching Wimbledon.
RL fun has been in short supply for sometime.
I feel a bit more hopeful now..just a bit.

Just wanted to say this here so I don't derail MMF's thread:
>>
MMF get real. It's all very raw at present.
Can't you get that?
<<
It's very raw for *you*. I get that, and I'm sure others (some) will be starting to get that that's how it is for you.
It's not like that for many researchers, and for them it's entirely appropriate to write a song for noohootoo.
Are these two experiences incompatible? How can we all have our own experiences without denying those of others?

I'm not spending my whole life trying to think about how me being honest may or may not upset others.
We all have to make a few allowances.

In MMF's thread, if you post like that you can seriously piss people off and/or kill a thread. Does that matter? I think so. How people care for each other is what builds community.
No-one is asking you to spend your *whole life thinking about it
For me it's a balance between making some allowances and also feeling concern about other people's need for respect.

We'll have to agree to differ on this one then.
He's known me for yonks and knows what a good hearted person I basically am.
I'm not suddenly going to turn into some pussy footing type.
We're all a bit up in the air.

kea you often talk about cultural issues.
It would be nice if you could respect my essentially British lower middle class/ working class female background.
We don't pussyfoot.

I'm doing the best I can. I hate hurting people. I expect when someone knows me over some years they understand that.
He takes it how he wants.

Do you think I should try to be much nicer on noohootoo?
Or at least for a bit...

Oh right no reply then.
I'm unsubbing.
You know damn well I don't intend MMF any harm..but you love to wax lyrical about cultural things..,but when it comes to British Females with a certain background.. them.
It happened at school from the *nice* teachers as well. The lower classes will always be undermined.
We just ain't NICE.

Effers, I've been in and out all afternoon and am still thinking about what I want to say. I have a half written reply waiting in another window.
I call bullshit on your reaction over class. I'm not talking about you having to be *nice*, and I get the class issues and largely agree (learnt alot from my polticised working class friends and from having to deal with middle class-ified middle management types in govt departments who think that nice trumps honesty, truth and competence).
I've not said that you harmed MMF. You do seem to have stymied that thread. I don't know what I think about that fully yet, am still thinking about it.
I'll come back in a bit when I can sort out how I want to respond to your earlier post.

You don't have a clue concerning class issues for British women.
The many and convoluted ways a woman is ed are something amazing.
I have no doubt it is the fundamental issue that has hobbled me in my life.
please don't start telling me about stuff you know nothing about.

Seriously it's something quite obscene and the way other women are used if they rise in the world.
I don't know any theory about this SHT. But I see the reality of it in my family..and oh I can hardly talk about it...It's class. No wonder my parents turned into something really horrible to escape it.
You cannot believe it.
