Hand-holding available, here. Isn't "Hot-lanta" also the home of Coca Cola? My name's Darrell, & I'm up in western Canada (north of Montana.) In the big picture, I'm still relatively new here, myself, & I thought it would probably be a nice idea to get to know a few of the new neighbors smiley - winkeye. So, I'm just poppin' in to say 'hi, 'welcome aboard' & all that. Btw, you might want to type smileys, into that search window at the top of the page, for a few images to add to your space/.entries. Otherwise, make yourself comfortable, & don't hesitate yo go pokin' around - no harm in it, I've done my share & I'm still here smiley - winkeye. Also, there is alot to see...& alot of good people to talk to. Oh, you can visit my space, if you'd like, & learn a bit more about me.

Nice to meet you, Darrell. Yes, Hot'lanta is also the home of the famed Coke company. Perhaps I'll write a bit on my experiences at their museum sometime.

You're in Western Canada? Ah, it's refreshing to speak to someone who can handle cold and snowy weather. Down here in the boonies, the entire city's shut down if we get so much as an inch of snow. I will probably write about that, as well. I think I'll pop over and look at your space in a bit. smiley - smiley

Good to get a prompt reply, Abby. While I grew up in cold, snowy winters, Global Warming has cut the amount of snow we get, by about 98%, & made things considerably warmer. Right now, its much more like late March or early April (as I remember them, from childhood)...or, perhaps early Nov., before any significant amount of snows fallen. I can remember (I know, I sound like some 'old timer', recounting pre-war memories) years when we had 3 ft. of snow, by now...as it is, we've got roughly 1/4 inch - & thats largely where it hasn't melted.

But, uh, you're simply not used to the more severe winter weather, there (& of course, not equipped to deal with it.) I mean, why maintain a fleet of snowplows, just to use them a couple days a year, every other year? Or, for that matter, store heavy, toasty warm winter clothing 363 days a year. Just a theory, but I think it has something to do with genetics & tolerance...our grandparents, & parents got accustomed to whatever climate they settled in,& consequently, a certain amount of that is in our genes, you know? So, subconciously, we expect more or less the same climate they lived with/in, & are less tolerant of change.

yes, I suppose that's true. I never saw the reason for the city going mad when it did decide to turn into winter. The south has two main seasons: Hot and cool. Everything else is only used in conversation.

And it's okay that you sounded like my grandparents for a moment there - as long as we can accept we're turning into them, nothing else really matters.
