Gee, I can tell you you'd find my reply by scrolling down on your Personal Space to find it, but you'd have to scroll down on your Personal Space to find it!smiley - winkeye

Hi! Welcome to h2g2! My name's Shea, and I'm your friendly neighborhood ACE, welcoming you to the site! smiley - smiley Once you settle on your name ... I kinda like Jung Wing, actually, just click on the button that says "Preferences", and you can change your name from Researcher 211101 to anything you'd like!

I'd rather not insult you, but I'd like to help you with any questions or problems you might have! smiley - winkeye

You ask about your skin being Alabaster. There are a choice of "skins" on h2g2. Under that infamous "Preferences" button I told you about, you can choose the way you'd like your pages to look. There's a choice of Alabaster, Classic GOO, and Brunel. Each of them are different, and have their own fans. I'd suggest trying them all, and see which you like to work with best.

Anything else you'd like to know, just click on the "Reply" button, and leave me a message. smiley - cheers

Ah, there you go. Glad you made an introduction to yourself.

I see you've worked out that this place is a confusing mess. Great isn't it?

&Hello! NICE PAGEsmiley - ok
I really agree with everything the others have said.

It can be VERY confusing at first, but you've done the hardest bit now by making your personal space more individual & giving yourself a name (I shall call you Jung-Wing for now, but if I've got it wrong just let me know!)

Now that you have Shea as your Ace, she will give you LOADS of help with anything you might not be sure of, but despite how it may have seemed that first time, EVERYONE will try to help, so if there is any time when Shea is not available, just click on the highlighted nickname at the top of any message sent to you & you will end up on their Personal Space (like you have made here, your own "home" really!)

Then read what they have written about themselves (some of it's pretty weird, but don't worry about it!!)
Then, if you want to leave a message, go to where it says "People have been talking about this Guide Entry" & click on the "dicuss this entry" button & write your message. When it's done, click on "post message" to send it to them.

THAT'S IT!! If you can write your own page like you've just done, you can certainly do this!

When people want to reply to you, or just say hello, you will see the message here, so just keep coming back to "My Space" which is on the LEFT side of every page you go to (at the top)

TRY IT!! Even if you do something wrong, people will understand, we were all "newbies" once!( I think I still am actually; I don't understand A LOT of what's going on!!)

WELL DONE FOR STICKING AROUND! as others have said, you must have a brilliant personality, look forward to getting to know you better!

smiley - zensmiley - devilTerri
(if you like the little pictures, put your mouse on them-- don't click-- you'll see what they mean. I can tell you how to get them if you leave me a message (just click on reply under here)

Hi & welcome. I see U have helpers volunteering! Great. Stop by any time. Click on any name to go to their page. Click on topic to start from begining, or last post to see the most recent reply. The help pages are good. It seems like a maze at first. There are several ways to do the same thing. It gets easier, quickly! smiley - biggrin Plain is easiest for starters, I stayed there. You can change your name. Do not worry about picking one to live with forever!

SHEA ACE-------A565940 THANK YOU VERY MUCH YOUR KIND WORDS. OK. SO YOU THINK JUNG WING SOUNDS GOOD TO YOU??? WELL THAN MY NO. ; 211101 WILL CHANGE FOR EVERYDAY USE: JUNG WING. ( I WONDER HOW IS THE PRONONCIATION ???) JUNG IS NOT EQUAL= YOUNG. JUNG THE SWISS PSYCHIATRIST WAS JUNG. GUSTAVE JUNG. THERE WAS TIMES WHEN HE WAS YOUNG ( BY AGE) BUT ALWAYS WAS JUNG.----NOW WE CLEARIFIED THIS.

PERHAPS " i JUMPED THE GUN" ( AMERICAN SLANG) BECAUSE I WROTE AN OTHER ENTRY BEFORE I READ YOR KIND WORDS.
I WILL SEE HOW I PROCEED, BECAUSE THERE IS A WAY OF DOING IT, TO LEARN AN ADOPT YOUR LOGIC, WHAT EVER. ( THAT IS AN OTHER AMERICAN WAY OF SAYING: APPLY TO WHAT EVER FITS??)
AS YOU SEE TO ESTABLISH A WORKABLE COMMUNICATION IS NOT EASY FOR HUMANS. THE APES ARE MUCH MORE UNDERSTANDING TO EACH OTHER WHEN IT COMES TO CONVERSATIONS. TO MY BELIEVE ALL OTHER ANIMALS ARE EASIER ON LANGUAGE WITHIN THE SAME SPECIES THAN THE HUMAN.

BBC DECLARES THAT THE NEWS COMES IN 43 LANGUAGES AND THAT IS JUST A PORTION OF ALL THE LANGUAGES SPOKEN BY HUMANS ON EARTH. THAT IS WHY I LIKE VISUAL IMAGES BECAUSE DOES NOT INVOLVE IDIOTIC WORDS. THE LITTLE ICONS IN COMPUTER LANGUAGE MAKES A LOT OF SENSE TO ME. NOW THERE YOU ARE. I GUESS I WILL CUT IT HERE, BECAUSE I HAVE MORE OBLIGATIONS TO FULL FILL. UNTIL THAN: FAIR WELL, SEE YOU ON THE SCREEN OR IN MY DREAMS... YOUR JUNG WING. see p.s.

P.S. I LIKE TO SEND X-MAS CARDS TO E-MAILS.MY E-MAIL IS IN SUCH A MESS IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE BECAUSE OF THE INSANE SPAMS.--- ANYWAY I AM USING HERE: [email protected],----if yahoo is available at this time of the year.

Could you possibly not type in capitals? smiley - smiley As you yourself said...there are ways of doing things. Proper language is one of them! On the net, typing capitals = shouting! Hurts the head and the eyes!

Shea the Sarcastic

I guess you can pronounce Jung Wing any way you'd like! Somehow in my head I read it as "Young Wing", but if you want to pronounce the "J", I'll try to wrap my brain around that! smiley - winkeye

The apes certainly *are* more understanding of each other! You can put so much expression into picking the fleas off of someone else. I'll refrain from waggling my pink butt at anyone around here, though. smiley - biggrin

Sometimes people interpret visual images in different ways too! Have you ever heard two art critics differ over what they think an artist meant in a painting? smiley - erm

If you need any help with anything around h2g2, feel free to ask! There's always someone around to lend a hand ... even if it's just to pick fleas off of you! smiley - winkeye

Dear Ace Shea: plse tell what is all you do??? Or do I have to go somewhere else to ask this question???

I am just a humble painter--- ( mostly made a living so)---- but other than that like to get really better with this machine here, because I just wrote a long silly story, hit the wrong key and bang!!! gone--- it was adressed to Terri and Yoda 208370.
greetings from newbie: jung wing. dec. 9. evening here. Before I loos this too. Post msg.

Post 15

Shea the Sarcastic

Sometimes I find it's best to write a long story or message to someone in a notepad program. I've lost too many things around here! smiley - tongueout

I'm an artist, also! I love painting the most, but don't find as much time to do it as I'd like. I've also recently moved into a rather small place, so I don't have room for my easel or drawing board. I work doing web design, so I've taken to doing computer art. smiley - artist

If you'd like to change the name that shows up on h2g2 to say "Jung Wing" instead of "Researcher 211101" (although that's a cool number!) just click on the "Preferences" button. Next to where it says "Nickname:" you can type in Jung Wing! smiley - ok

Hi Jung-Wing, HI saturnine (No, jung 6wing, you're not the only one to get caps/lower case & caps lock mixed up; it happens to me 'cos my brain goes MUCH faster than my nerve synapses else where, ie: typing fingers for a start!)

So, Jung-Wing, you're an smiley - artist excellent! So's Shea I see, so you've been doubly fortunate & got a great Ace who's ALSO an artist; well done!

I'm a bit of an artist myself, or getting that way I hope. I make 3 dimensional scenes from just about ANYTHING; & quite often house them inside cheese-boxes, 'cos they're plentiful & FREE here in France! Hence the nickname I chose.

What sort of art do you do? What about Shea? I tried messing about with the paintbox programme when I 1st got the computer, but ended up spending a fortune on ink, so went back to the cheese-boxes!

Have you played around with the smileys yet? I find them great fun, though it's easy to over-do it! If you click on any smiley in a message you receive, it will take you straight to the main page of smileys.

Glad you're having fun on h2g2, keep in touch,
smiley - zensmiley - devilTerri (& Yoda smiley - cat)

Terri I am trying to answer you, and thank you for your welcome to me: jung wing at this time. I was looking to find an E-mail adr. to you, because I answered a few people to their e-mail. It is easier and faster now, because I know how to E-mail, but to get in touch and find topics is not so easy yet for my " green horn" = newbie status.
The most experinced on a computer I am with painting, but outside of that to follow other twisted, tangeled logic---= if any--- takes time to adopt. Hence is the quick respond through E-mail. Best regards to Yoda too.

Hello, Jung-Wing, hope you had a good holiday!smiley - holly
I don't give out my e-mail number as a rule 'cos:
a) Anyone can read any conversation on h2g2; & I don't like getting e-mails from people I don't know well (worried about SPAM etc)
b) It rather seems to defeat the object of joining a discussion forum if you end up having lots of one-to-one conversations instead of everybody else being able to contribute.

I'm not saying it's wrong, just for me it's like the difference between a cosy chat with your best friend, or a party full of interesting people; they're both nice in different ways!

Hope you're finding your way around h2g2 better nowsmiley - boing
Happy New Year!smiley - discosmiley - peacesignsmiley - disco

Hello Jung Wing,

Are you getting on alright now? I noticed that you seem to be subscribed to Writing Workshop. This is causing conversations about other people's articles to automatically pop up in the list on your personal space page. I only mention it as a possible problem because you complained at someone else for posting on your space when they hadn't done so. If you are happy to go on receiving notifications of new articles then that's fine. If it was a mistake you can fix it by clicking on this link <./>FSB57153?cmd=unsubscribeforum&page=normal</.> and then clicking on the "My Space" link to return to your space.

That will stop new conversations from Writing Workshop from appearing on your list. You will have to clear out any old ones for yourself though. Obviously the site software can't let just anyone delete your list of conversations! To remove any you don't want, just click on the little cross on the left of the title in the list or the unsubscribe link just below its title. How you see the link will depend on which site "skin" you have set in your Preferences.
