He sounds awful Jabs. I've just sent him a flea in his ear.

Oh, it's Taff. I don't actually think he means to offend people, but I know he upsets a lot of people wherever he posts.

Vi. Be careful, don't get into trouble on my account [but I think you sound great actually and it's good to have such a staunch friend on my side].
Best regards,
Jabs

No, but he does seem to have a knack of upsetting everybody.

The villain who could be so rude
Was surely not a poet
But a mean and hurtful dude
Whose manners clearly show it!
This kind of churlish attitude
Shows ignorance – we know it!
We’ll show him little latitude
And tell him where to stow it!
Jabs mate, you’re the best.
(Amelia sends her best wishes and says to take absolutely no notice!)

"It was then that I saw that nobody at all had defended me. I didn't expect them to, really, as I'd unsubbed, but still, it might have been nice. In fact the writer of the next post, which ignored me completely, has been a friend of mine on hootoo for a long, long time."
I distinctly remember giving a to both you and Reefgirl on one of the threads where you had been ignored, Jab. No one deserves to be made to feel unwelcome. That's basic good manners, and I didn't want to be deficient (though my other deficencies are still alive and well, alas!).
If we're talking about any kind of defense, as in a war situation, I'm in Woody Allen's camp. Woody once said, "In the event of war, I'm a hostage." If I go to a game thread and a war breaks out, then it's going to take me a while to realize that it's a war, and a while longer to figure out whether to take sides, and about an eon to figure out whether to take part or hide. Then I would need more time to realize that everybody else was prepared, and the place was just a pile of smoking ruins, and it was my turn to clean up because I was the only one still standing. Did I ever mention how appallingly bad I am at cleaning anything up?
The word game thread is one that I came to late, and I never bothered to go back and learn the rules. I was counting on those who knew the rules to correct me if I went astray, but if they have already done this, I did realize that that was going on. So, my main strategy in that thread is to simply disappear if things get too hot. I have alter egos who can check in there occasionally to see if the ruins have been cleaned up yet (but not to actually clean up, as none of my alter egos can do cleaning either ).

Paul,
It wasn't on that thread that I, together with Reefgirl, received your hug. I do believe it might have been earlier on this one. Whichever, please be assured that I appreciated it a great deal and I haven't forgotten it at all.
I was lately talking about the song thread.

No - sorry, Paul, it wasn't on this thread after all. It may have been earlier on the song thread. I was referring to having no support subsequent to the brush-off I got from Taff.
But, as I said, I do remember, with gratitude, your hug, wherever it was.

Thanks for your intervention that was modded, Vi. I get the gist of it from the quote in the reply, and I appreciate your support 100%. Hope you weren't upset at being modded but the message obviously got through. I wouldn't ask someone to do something like that, but I do appreciate it.
Regards,
Jabs

And, by no means least, thanks for your poem, el D. Not only was it good, but it cheered me up a lot
Please pass on my good wishes to Amelia too
Jabs
Thanks again for this thread ellyboddle!

I'm not in that song thread. It's a shame when Taff does that. He's done it other threads too.
I usually leave it until he goes offline, then resume playing again

Sorry, my typos are still terrible. There was no heat here this morning, and my hands are cold and clumsy.

... Sorry if I'm a little late...
Having read the posts in question, I think it does seem a little rude; although I have to say I first thought maybe he meant it was easy for him to make the connection, not necessarily implying that it was obvious. If I'd been him and *wanted* to be rude, I'd probably have said "obvious, wasn't it?".
Then again, if he has a habit of disturbing people...
One way or another, you still deserve a great big for the intelligent reply, not having been rude yourself.
Oh and another one because you're a friend.

Dearest Jabs, Only too pleased to come to your defence. I just asked him how he'd avoided reaching maturity. He seems to enjoy fighting, and war games and is proud of it,

I don't think he can help it. I won't speculate why, though I've a good idea, because it would be personal, unfair, and speculative by definition, rather than having any truth/falsity value. Thanks so much for your help, Lu,
Jabs
