Of course you can, lil, but some people manage it by the skin of their teeth.

But not right away, as they have to remove their feet from their mouths first. smiley - whistle

Posts 41 - 48, there is still a determined (and secular) opposition on the question even today.

Don't run 'em down without a study. Their math works just as well as the more conventional interpretation.

I've seen that web site before. It's pure satire. At one point, they talked about spreading their point of view by pointing to things that contradicted their worldview, and saying, "You do not exist." Very very funny, and not meant to be taken seriously.

I realize that there are people who do, seriously, believe the world is flat, but I doubt that they are affiliated with that particular werbsite.

And if the world were two-dimensional, Paul, you'd have to lie on your back all day, which sounds like it might suit you!

Or perhaps a 'Flat Earth' just means that the entire human population lives in 'flats'! It certainly seems to be going that way here.smiley - erm

Getting caught up a bit a bit after a two day snooze. (I hadn't realized I was so exhausted.

67, only in the third dimension one could only imagine in mental perspective, Prof.

68, Jabberwock already said it (more or less) in post 69.

70, PedanticBarSteward, that or we're still being nickle and dimed to death on runaway inflation (insidious semantics there, for keeping people 'flat').

71, even though there's no gravity in flatland? (If there were, it would be 'lineland', just one endless queue, no jumping the line and no peeking, though passing the word along still works subject to telegraphe effect and the King Kong effect.)

Runaway inflation is one thing, but runway inflation would be necessary to get balloons aloft. smiley - winkeye

I've always thought that given its low density, vacuum (plain old empty space) would be a marvelous alternative to things like hydrogen or helium (or hot air) for supporting lighter than air flight.

Unfortunately, whenever I attempt the process with anything light enough that divested of its internal air it ought to float, it proves to be so flimsy it cannot sustain the mere 15 Lbs/square inch of air pressure operating on it and it crumples.

On the other hand, crumpled beer cans and plastic bottles take less space waiting for their trip to the recycler than uncrumpled ones.

I guess its all a matter of cut and try. The great inventors often went through hundreds, even thousands of essays before hitting on a system that actually worked.
