For the lack of travel opportunities. I never flew til i was 34, bloody hate it too, but i love the places i go to, so no choice really.
Good travel chances once you pass your degree though Quark, most of the Astronomical work is in the U.S. or OZ isn't it?
By the way have you seen a film called 'Local hero' ?

My favourite film ever, saw it long before i knew or married a Scot.
Every time i talk to you it reminds me of the film ;'Keep an eye on Leo McIntyre, i'm expecting great things' The heavens ,East coast Scotland.................have you still got a red phone box?
It was actually filmed reasonably near you at Pennan, just north of Aberdeen.
Stop me if i get boring

SpaceGirl Posted Aug 11, 2003
a good day to you, young sir. i hope this beautiful day finds you well
have gone all formal
i always thought of myself as a more 'whisky galore' girl , but local hero will suffice!
how's Mrs SE doing?, has she ridiculed your attempts at housekeeping yet?
i hope you noticed i called you young, the heat must be making me delusional
st elmo
airscotia-back by popular demand Posted Aug 11, 2003
The heat must be affecting me too, i started to believe you .It sounds like you've had a jolly day anyway, how is the foundation garment industry during the heatwave?.
I have been melting today, and it is now starting to wear down my natural good humour.. This was not helped by TWFF, looking behind all the cushions, and discovering my junk hideout.
Still waiting for a storm.............i shall think of cape town when it comes

SpaceGirl Posted Aug 12, 2003
we're selling lots of t-shirts and shorts, to people who shouldn't really be wearing skimpy shorts
it's one of those days when don't want to go to work, you know you should be able to have, maybe, 5 can't be bothered-days each year. u just phoned up and say code cbb, and all is well and u can go back to bed!!
anyway i suppose i'd better go
have a good one

airscotia-back by popular demand Posted Aug 13, 2003
Still no rain, Quark .
I have 6 of those can't be bothered days each week.............it's a result of my advancing years i reckon.I haven't yet got to the stage of wearing shorts with sandles and socks however, but who knows.
Will phone work tommorrow and quote code CCB, i think it's a winner, i'll let you know how i get on.

Petal?
Youv'e had the best of it today then Quark, i was up at 4am today, and the same tommorrow, so i won't be around long either
I guess that's the big advantage of your studies, you can just lie in the park looking at the sky and say 'I'm revising'.
st elmo
SpaceGirl Posted Aug 13, 2003
true true, but that only really works at night.!!
i'll be thinking of you at 4 am as i turn over and snuggle back down for another couple of hours sleep
i might even feel the tiniest bit guilty ....... but then again maybe not
st elmo
airscotia-back by popular demand Posted Aug 13, 2003
If you hear a truck tooting it's horn outside your window at 4:30 in the morning you'll know i'm thinking of you too . It will also be the fastest truck journey from Oxford to Scotland ever
Off to now Quark, have a nice day retailing,
St. Elmo the pooped out.

Good evening Quark the younger,
* Parks zimmer frame up against wall next to little tartan shopping trolley *
It's always the same with you Scottish women, all nicey nicey to start with, then they start the verbal abuse. OLDSTER ?.Just when i thought i'd managed to put the thought of 40 behind me.
Glad you had a great time with the nephew, they're little treasures at that age.. Our two youngest have taken the question asking to new heights, they now listen intently all day to everything we say, then ask all thier questions at bedtime.
'Why did you call that man in the car a git daddy?'
' Does it really take mummy hours to get ready?'
'What was that word you said to the man on the phone?'

SpaceGirl Posted Aug 18, 2003
lol, oh i am soo glad i don't have any children!!
my friend's oldest daughter came up with the classic question -'what is the tide?', yes, that left me somewhat flummoxed . how do explain to a 10 year old about that.
you know i think they don't really want to know the answer to the questions they just like to see you squirm!!
btw, nice trolley , i especially like the horn
i think i'd better buy myself one for my birthday, it gets closer everyday
have a good day

Twas a nice day thank you Quark,
We've been out getting Hamilton's birthday presents today, he's 6 on Thursday. It's the kids growing up so quickly that shows you how the years are passing . Glenffiddich came out with a good brain teaser today, just as i was trying to find a parking space ;' So who was God's mummy then?' Is there a good time to explain the big bang theory to an 8 year old?If there is , it's not half way around an M&S car park.
And don't even try to imagine the horror of a well placed sex education question in the checkout at Tesco's .Everybody in the queue leans forward to see how you'll deal with that question. Mrs. Airscotia has threatened painful injury if i say ' Ask your Mother', once more.
When's the birthday then Quark, and how old?
St.Elmo the inquisitive.
