h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Her dreams were disjointed. She dreamed she was surrounded by endless grey clouds. Not the steely ones outside her home today, but the fluffy cottony ones from the world of Dreamland. Nestled within the clouds were little lambs contentedly munching on some unseen grass, while flying around her were birds of all kinds. There were thunderous banging noises permeating the peaceful scene, and peals of laughter surging maniacally at irregular intervals.
Suddenly there was a male figure cloaked in shadow standing behind her. His features were not visible, and his presence suggested something menacing. She watched the surreal scene, as he walked up from behind and put his hands on her shoulders. In one sweeping movement, he spun her around to face him, and dipped her gracefully like in the old movies, bent his head to hers, and kissed her like he had been craving her lips for an hundred years. Light started slanting through the impeneterable wash of cotton ball clouds to touch upon the kissing couple with slender fingers of golden shunshine. They were spreading into a circle of brilliant and sparkling light, placing the pair in a spotlight of sorts. Butterflies fluttered gracefully around them, and sensual and silky tones of a saxaphone started playing in the background. It was soon joined by the silky ministrations of a deeply resonant violin, and the melodious tinkle of bells. The tune that was played was unfamiliar to her, but it seemed to weave an enchantment that held her breathless.
All of a sudden she awoke, sitting straight up in her bed, and the spell was broken. The remnants of her dreams flirting with her consciousness, making her melancholy with desire. She never did get to see the face of the mystery man, but imagined he would be someone wonderful.
