If you haven't yet looked at it, or even if you have, I just went back to it now & realised that just about THE best place to look for answers is the <./>h2g2 FAQ Index </.> which you can access immediately by pressing the "help" button at the top of every page.
That for the facts (ie the technology bit, which I'm hopeless at!); plus don't be afraid to squeak for help if you don't understand (YES we ARE all nice people!) should go a long way to helping anyone start getting the most out of the wonderful world of hootoo!
Off back to have another look myself; inspired by my beautiful new alien (a huge 
to all who made it possible!)

Well, that's a bloo*y good start I must say! Try to write something, press the wrong button & I get told:
"WARNING:Your Journal Entry cannot be empty"
I am feeling defiant.
WHY can it not be empty?
WHO has decided that empty entries are a BAD THING?
A lot of homeless people, stray cats, famous pregnant women on donkeys etc. would give anything for an empty entry.
I've also been told "You can't unsubscribe from your own journal"
