I was on holiday in France last week, trying to navigate home from Gastes (north of Mimizan) when I noticed Angloueme (sp?) on the roadmap. I wondered if this was where you live or just a town with same name. Lucky you if you do live there. It's a region we've not visited before but will again. Really enjoyed the crashing ocean waves and the weather. Managed to eat and drink lots of local fayre and got-by with my dreadful French.
Had to take my daughter to hospital with broken finger whilst there. I was trying my best to describe her brother, on the swing, kicking her hand when the doctor said "no. In English please" with a pained expression on his face. I guess it sounded bad in my pigeon-French.
Hope you're having fun with your puppy.
Meg.

Hiya Meg, hope your daughter's hand is better now!
I don't imagine there's more than one Angoulême, though i may be wrong; my French geography is a bit sketchy!
We are in Charente region, nearest well known big place is Bordeaux (as in!); go inland & up a bit!
I am now on the h2g2 MAP , so if you go to A5076614 you will be able to see how far away you actually were. Do pop in if you are passing next time!
Leopardskynfynn has stayed here, she can tell you all about it (i am probably biased since i live here!)

It was the town where you live then. We were South of Bordeaux on the coast. It it a lovely area. I really enjoyed the smell of the pine forests, and the power of the ocean waves which knocked me off my feet and made me recall the abandonment of youth. The wildlife was fun too. We enjoyed watching bats and lizards, held a wonderful cool, fat, toad and were facinated by a preying mantis in our kitchen.
We've never been that far South in France before (usually stay just south of Nantes) but really enjoyed it. Will probably pass that way again so if you're still over there we may get to meet. I don't know if you'd particualy want to meet me with my attatched entourage though. Maggot is now 12 and very slightly hormonal and trouble is 8 and getting mouthy. Hubbie is ok and can be quite charming on a good day (one that contains plenty of wine)
As for me I'm really quite shy. I met Leopardskinfynn this summer and my husband did most of the talking, Probably because I was driving home, thus sober, and distracted by the kids.
We'll probably be in France again next year but don't know where yet.
Will let you know.
