I read somewhere that Ariel from the Little Mermaid was the ideal partner for most men on the grounds that:
A - she looks nice
B - she can't speak

that's sad. Then again, I'm female, I probably am not expected to see the humor in it. Then again, maybe that's why I don't listen to any female singers...because their voices are so annoying.

Some of the Canadian ones yes. Avril Lavigne sounds like Alanis Morissette being molested by a yak.

Hmm...yaks. I can't stand Avril Lavigne. It's like pop trying to be music. Just wretched. I do like Bonnie though.

Not sure who she is, Hilary Duff is only just filtering through here (more's the pity) but in Britain we have someone called Amy Studt who is pretty much the same as Avril only with slightly worse lyrics.

Hillary Duff sings? I hadn't heard of that. Good Lord, what do they intend on doing to the music market? Oh, wait, it's already corrupted.

Well they need a new Virgin Britney to replace the old one. It's been used. Ahem.

Tacysa Posted Nov 8, 2003
You mean she's not a virgin? Omigod, what will America DO?? I think I'll stick with old music that's already been politicked out.

Beano Posted Nov 8, 2003
We're doing that in History. Only this is about 1918-1925 rather than present day which is incredibly depressing.

Tacysa Posted Nov 8, 2003
Doing what in history? Sticking with music already politicked out? I love history, though there is no future in it.

Beano Posted Nov 8, 2003
Well basically we just had a lecture on 100% Americanism which is how they induced patriotism during and after World War One. It's a bit iffy.

It's a sad truth. How can a person resist learning about all of the people that have been beat almost to death on the Senate floor? Or the horrible nicknames for Presidents? Or what kings and emperors have blown the treasury on? Actually, I can, but still, I love it.

I think my favourite thing from history is when we discovered that there was a Norman Lord called 'Fulk the Young'.

Tacysa Posted Nov 9, 2003
Fulk the Young. Try saying that five times fast! I think my favorite was learning about Charles Sumner being beat over the head by Preston Brooks with a gold cane desk ornament and almost dying. Preston Brooks got unanimously reelected to the Senate later on while Sumner was in England for three years seeking medical treatment.

We get that a bit. The Conservative Party members tend to have had a bit of history to them. Usually involves a secretary though.
