Scandinavians die in traffic incidents due to winter weather, but rarely because of lack of wolly hats

That just might be true! I have worn my fleece cap pulled down over my ears, whenever going out the last month. And now we have snow! smiley - yikes

Do people really get bloood clots from cold? I get totally dizzy if I'm out in the cold without had, and then go indoors - Dear Husband says it's the liquid in the balance thingy in my ears that starts moving when the temperature changes...

I had heard about the blood clot thing killing us Britons, too. I don't go anywhere without a hat, but it's a habit that's socially unacceptable here, and I get a lot of stick about it from complete strangers who don't understand why anyone in their right mind would ever want to wear a hat.smiley - weird

If a bandana keeps your head warm, then it could count as a hat... it's not hairy enough to be a wig, after all.

Speaking of wigs, I recently learned about the existence of merkins.smiley - laugh First they shave it off, then they stick it back on.... http://www9.general-hosting.com/kctrln/SXM-Info/SXM-Beaches/amc/

Interesting about the inner ear thing. That makes a lot of sense. Me, I get headaches if I go out in the cold without a hat: I get cramp in my scalp muscles.smiley - silly

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I tend to wear a hat, especially this time of the year or in priods of the year when its raining frequently, the one I wear most of the time is a black leather pork pie style hat but I've been looking for another one for ages; Interesitngly when I was on the last bit of my course, we were doing stuff about self employment, and one of the speakers was telling us about some of the buisnesses people had set up that she has delt with, one was a person who makes lether hats! She said something like 'not many men wear hats though, and espeically not leather ones, so he will have to do a lot of work to seel the hats and find his market'.
So as i was sitting there with my leather black jacket on the back of my chair, I reached into the pocket of the jacket and pulled out the black leather hat and put it on!
and then I said to her 'I expect in a gorup this small you'd expect not to find a single man who wore leather hats!' smiley - biggrin she laughed and I am going to contact her to get the details of teh guy producing these hats as I might tret myself to one for Xmas; smiley - biggrin my lodger wears Trilby hats and they are b****y expensive things he gets smiley - wowsmiley - cool I've also a 'Rasta' kinda style hat but that is a bit daft really, though its goo d as I can put all* of my hair inside it; used to wear it more when at Uni, esp if my hair was dirty as I could hide it in the hat! smiley - biggrin

Reduction in body temperature leads to thickening of the blood and a rise in blood pressure and this can increase the risk of heart attack, also sudden changes in the temperature of the head can cause sudden death even hours after the event. Or so I believe.

I can testify that 2legs' "rasta" hat is indeed daft!
