I need a life.
I had more than a hundred people laugh at me today.
I've started smoking again.
I'm a poor communicater...
...with nothing to say.
I'm so 2d.
And the world spins round.

your too hard on yourself! : You may have started smoking again, but that must mean you quit for some time... More than I've ever even attempted* to do, knowing how flimsy my self control is on such things

2-d = two-dimensional
Nothing happened I went to the cinema - wearing my hat and coat... and beard and face and carrying my body.

"So why did they laugh at you, the gits?"
Because I'm a fat man with a beard, a tophat and a big dark-grey cashmere-coat.
I often find the crap jokes and jibes re-assuring in a way. But maybe wearing a tophat is a bit much.

It's amazing how shallow so many people are about clothes. I bet you looked really good: distinctive, original, arty. I'd like to say stand up for your right to be the individual that you are, but since I got rid of my favourite hat and long black coat, my life has been really peaceful and I can go wherever I please without getting crap off people. I'm indignant on your behalf, and commend your bravery in maintaining your individuality. The ones who laugh at you are no doubt outnumbered by the people who say nothing because they think you look fine; but it must take a real extrovert not to be ground down by such treatment.

I felt ground down by it yesterday. So many teenagers, chavs and random people outright laughing and mocking or just cold staring.
I don't think I look terribly arty either.
Not having a life and not knowing where to start, being 2-d etc are more significant concerns.

This is true - or so I try to tell myself. Don't always find it very convincing at times though.
Hi there, btw.

"I felt ground down by it yesterday. So many teenagers, chavs and random people outright laughing and mocking or just cold staring."
Such a familiar situation! I feel your pain, man.
"Not having a life and not knowing where to start, being 2-d etc are more significant concerns."
When you say 2-d, do you mean that you don't have much of an impact on others' lives? (It's how I felt before I got my teaching job and some friends.)
Not having a life is a toughie, especially if something like an illness is holding you back. As you know, after I lost my job, I took to sitting on park benches and in pubs and cafes; I gradually got to know those people who regularly did the same thing. They approached me because I looked 'different', which made me recognisable and gave them something to talk about. Actually, I still do this when I've got time. I've come to think of myself as an observer of life: it gives me a sense of purpose that's easy to fulfill, and means I get chatting with people I wouldn't otherwise have thought to talk to. I'm not sure if that constitutes *having* a life, as such, but it adds interest to it.

I mean I am two-dimensional. As in not distinctive or original. Shallow and unthinking. Intellectually inferior, lacking knowledge or experience. I have a brain that doesn't work and personality that is deficient.
I don't know anything and I don't have insight into anything. I'm boring to be with and a pain to know. There is nothing to me, I'm a walking personality disorder and no-more.
I have nothing to say and no-one to say it to.

Bizarre that I look forward to your posts, then. Many people start threads that I have neither time nor inclination to read; but I always click on yours, and always like to read them.
Many people share your 'personality disorder', but different people respond to it in different ways. The way you manage yours gives me the impression of someone who is himself *despite* his condition, rather than because of it. You have a very amenable and entertaining personality that shines through it all. I can't imagine whom you think you're intellectually inferior to, unless dropping that course has led you to think it.
I appreciate that the way you feel at the moment is likely to make you think I don't mean any of this. But I do mean it. Don't you dare accuse me of lying, here! I think you're great. And I don't believe I'm the only one who thinks so.

As for not knowing anything, without you I would never have discovered the fine arts of teabagging, Roman Showers, gatecrashing, The Dirty Sanchez, furtling and bagpiping.

Ah. Well, if knowing few obscure names for sexual acts is all that needed for qualification and entry to the human race I'm well in!
