Sorry , saw you on the gullible thread. T'is a good name you have, does it mean anything in any of the scandinavian languages?

Willkommen, bienvenue -- welcome!
Azathoth is one of the gods in the Lovecraftian pantheon/Cthulhu Mythos. H.P. Lovecraft was an American author of gothic horrors and other oddities.
I took the name after a friend here comment upon finding out my given name that they had had me 'pegged as an Azathoth'. And I though "Aha, that could be my true name".
I arguably share certain traits with the Daemon Sultan described here: http://www.netherreal.de/library/lex_entry/a1.htm
There is disagreement about the origin of the name. I tend to the idea that it's Aza refers to Osiris also known as Asar and 'thoth' to Thoth.
For reasons I'm too tired to go into...
I noticed you like Tool. You are a person of discerning tastes!

. I'll have to try and read something by Lovecraft now, the name sounds familiar, but I don't think I'd ever heard about any of his books before.

Hi there.
Cool that you're interested in Lovecraft. I hope you enjoy it and see how pervasive his influence has been.
As implied I do love to slooshy to Tool. And also A Perfect Circle.
I don't mind saying that Puscifer's RCV 22:20 is terribly sexy.
Also very fond of PJ Harvey, Pearl Jam, David Gray, System Of A Down, Coal Chamber, Jack Off Jill and Clutch. And Slipknot. And Nirvana. And Seether.
This past little while I've been listening to Pantera, Emilie Autumn and The Birth Day Massacre a lot, which I guess, is an odd mix but they're all 'meaty' in different ways and thusly I'm very fond of them...
Right now I've got Skindred on who would be amongst the next strata down from the above 'very fond of's.
My favourite satirists are http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciAb2duJ5I8 Voltaire, [thank you Stephanie] and Tom Lehrer http://www.privatehand.com/flash/elements.html
And in the past I've dabbled in Drun & Bass, liking Krust and Roni Size.
I recently got the soundtrack to Coen Brother's film O Brother Where Art Thou and the original cast version of Phantom Of The Opera.
I like what I like. My tastes continue to evolve over time. I'll listen to anything at least once to see if makes think, feel or want to dance.
Let me know if that Voltaire helps with any persistent melancholia, yes?

T'is good. Seen quite a few AMV's with JOJ in the background. So far Angel's f___ with a Kingdom hearts video is the favourite, but I can't find it anymore, so I'm suitably gutted over that. I shall get round to the Voltaire, when last.fm stops bringing up good stuff.

I use Pandora.com and it's 'Music Genome Project' which is slightly different to Last.fm. Though I have to trick it into thinking I live in the US.
I saw a AMV set to Element Eighty's 'Scars' that's left me hungry to Elfen Lied.
Azathoth
grr Posted Jan 22, 2007
Elfen Lied, brilliant, one of my faves, yet mildly disturbing in parts. Or maybe I'm just sensitive.

Stealth "Jack" Azathoth Posted Jan 23, 2007
There ought have been a 'see' between the "hungry to" and "Elfen Lied". From the little I've seen and read it's quite my cup-of-chai and the suggestion it's disturbing kinda re-enforces that suspicion.
My collection of anime is rather limited, [Metropolis, Spirited Away erm... I think that's it. I don't think two items really counts as collection at all... *hangs head in shame*].

Don't worry, I've never seen a full one, except spirited away, because it was on telly.

Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle are also deservedly awarded great praise. My nearest HMV is selling works of his studio at 10 quid a DVD, which for good anime is very tempting.

grr Posted Jan 26, 2007
I'd be tempted, haven't looked in HMV for a while. I went past the download limit last month so I've got to cut down on video's.
Ps.would the new tagline be linked to the band.

Hello there.
I'm looking for new ISP at the moment, for when my contract is up. My 2meg unlimited, it ain't 2mg and it ain't unlimited. Thinking of switching to newnet, but that would cost, what with buying their router and such, but there's no way I could use all the bandwidth that come with there standard package.
The tagline is from a 'Star Wars Gangsta Rap' video on youtube. It's linked to in my journal if you can spare the bandwidth... It amused me and I'm not much for the Star Wars. Prefer the Trek. All of which you can make of what you will...
DVDs are out for the mo'. I'm after a Voodoo Handbag and a Bondage Teapot. See my journal [again] for a partial explanation or to be confuzzled.
Eep. I've flounced about online for far too long. I have to be up in the AM on the 'morrow. Mornings are an obscenity m'dear, and to be avoided at all costs.

Yep, I get why and where you've been looking, but a bondage teapot? What's one of them? I agree with the morning thing, wish I could avoid them.

This is: http://i3.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/86/b6/68d0_1.JPG
Robert Rankin and his partner at the time, Sally Hurst, for the cover of his novel 'Snuff Fiction' a bondage teapot. Later they did a small number of similar bondage teapots that found their way out amongst friends and fans.
Yesterday evening I paid £140 for the one in the picture.
It's 5 of 20.
Not read any Rankin I take it?
Azathoth
grr Posted Feb 5, 2007
Not read much of anything, except small extracts from Dickens and Shakespeare. Repeatedly, every single English lesson. And then trying to write an essay from it.
But the bondage teapots cool

Aye, so it is.
I'm someone that finds the concept and thought of book burning rather offensive. But after completed my English GCSE I burned the NEAB book of extracts and short stories and poems that accompanied it.
I noticed you ask about hairdresser speak. I never quite figure that one myself, either.
What's you new tag-line about?

grr Posted Feb 6, 2007
I don't know if it's spamming, but theres a band, local to me, called Nefarious, who've just started writing their own stuff. They're way better live, this sounds a bit over produced vocally, and everything else a tad neglected. A bit like vinyl, I think.
It's myspace.com/nefarioustheband if you're interested in listening. Very strong Metallica influence.

By the way, do you like Bill Bailey? He does a lot of songs in his gigs too, but it's a different kind of comedy.
