i spent a miserable weekend at home with my allergies , having braved dust and noxious fumes for three days last week to get to monash on foot and by public transport, and was expecting no better when i came to work today. however, when i logged into this site, what did i stumble upon first but a note saying that a scout had picked my legionnaires' disease article! i have no idea who it was, but you know who you are - thank you!

The height of non-productivity
Posted Nov 11, 2002
The last two weeks have not been fruitful. Am still recovering from the ghastly Science & Technology expo from last weekend. (mainly hypoxia and claustrophobia from being squished into a booth measuring about 3 m2) Most of my time has been spent in the library digging up journal articles and reading books that have absolutely nothing to do with molecular biology. Well, nothing that's related to my area of research anyway. However, have been enlightened by Richard Dawkins and 'The Selfish Gene', so I can't say that the last week has been totally wasted.

Choir
Posted Oct 21, 2002
I have spent the last week going through just about the most gruelling intensive college choir workshop in my life. (I was my residence college's pianist for my first two years in university, but went into retirement as an accompanist last year; they pulled me back out of retirement earlier this year) Think everybody is ready to lynch the tenor boys for their inability to sing in just one key. Anybody out there who can get boys in tune, please contact me.
