i sometimes wish that i had taken forensics as a trade. not the blood and guts bit, but the tracing of cars and other things from just a scrap of paint.
or maybe the sculpting of a face from a skull. some people are so clever

Indeed, some are. I'm always fascinated to read a news snippet about some 45 year old crime being solved, mostly because a fresh young mind looks at all the info ...

when you hear about things that happened in the 60's that they have now been able to solve, it makes you realise how backward/basic we still were, just those few short years ago.

And then you also hear of folks getting out of jail after 10, 20 or even 30 years ... proven innocent by todays means.

that is a sore point in britain today. some military woman who had a sex change or something similar and got called loads of nasty names, got megabucks and those who are fighting in iran/irag are getting peanuts for their injuries.
there are loads of people trying to get rich quick and most of them havent really got a case to answer to. they dont deserve it.

It's a sore spot here (with the folks that I work with) that some folk do get gender re-assignment in the military, while other concerns are left to "see if things will improve on their own".

maybe im being a bit thick, but its something i dont understand.
i was born a girl and i want to stay a girl. why would i want to be a boy?
from what i can see, the only good thing about being a boy is the ability to pee anywhere without too much trouble

Oh, but didn't you know that men have all the power in the world? Well, when their missus lets them, of course.
I don't know, there are now branches of psychology that believe there are biological mismatches between mind and body. What I have occasionally wondered just how many are 'changed', and then feel it was a mistake?

Considering that I dropped out of school prematurely, and never really did much for upgrades, I often amaze myself by being correct.
Mind, there are some fools here that have frequently accused me of thinking that I know everything and am always correct. If they knew the least bit about me, my beat-in inferiority bit from a 'dear' mother, and my true lack of education, that alone ought to have prevented them from such stupid claims amongst themselves and to others.
Whoops, a bit of a soap box there, huh?

i know the feeling. a lot of people think that my problems stem from grumpy, but it started way back many years before he even arrived on the scene. he just helped me along

Kinda puts me in mind of another h2g2 friend, who I think was already feeling worn down. And a change of circumstances helped lead her into quite a low state. I guess sometimes it is easier to just let it happen, huh?
Please believe me, I am not judging anyone. But my own stubborn-ness and pride just would not let me get dragged down too low, even if it meant stepping outside of law and acceptable social ways.
