TB.. I had a teacher who's husband worked with my dad on the police.. I still called her Miss D.. and him Uncle Eric
Paul!!
I was also called Mary because our neighbour had a pet sheep (larry) who kept trying to follow us to school... I had to take him home 3 times before the men in the animals food factory would tie him up for me!!

Cut thee tongue out of thy mouth... You were't closer wi' Mancunian..
Mums parents came from Wigan and Chorley..
Dads originally came from Rochdale.. moving to mid Cheshire with work on the Shropshire Union Canal..
Now a history lesson.. Where does the Shropshire Union begin.. and where does it end?.. Both places share a name..

Years ago I worked with a woman from Glasgow, and everyone had problems with her accent, but eventually we understood her. But we once received phone call from the Tax Office in Cumbernauld!.. None of us could understand a word this woman was saying.. were we glad when our workmate turned up!! She didn't half have a chinwag too!
