Seeing the warning signs
Mort - a middle aged Girl Interrupted Posted Oct 26, 2005
Vicky,
I know exactly what you are 'not' saying.
When you have stood at the edge of a pit of depression and had nothing to save you from falling in, then the next time you stand there you fear that the next event will be you falling in again.
It doesn't always have to be so. No-one knows as much about you as you do. If you feel you are having signs/symptoms that happened before (ie standing on the edge) then you have the advantage of being able to step back - and if you can't do that then call out and someone will hold your hand to stop you falling back in. Be it mum (cos bless her, no matter what she is troubled with she will always have a spare hand to hold on to her baby) or a GP.
You have the upper hand this time as you can see it coming. And that means that you can use all your experience from before to avoid the triggers, avoid the times you are most vulnerable and seek help before you realise you desperately need it.
It is hard - you know that, but recognising the Blackdog before it bites is one hell of an achievement - so be proud for seeing it and have the strength to ask for help.

It occurs to me, not for the first time, that Mort is clever.

you blame it on star trek the next generation, because every one is counseled there without people feeling counseled!

I went to see the practice sister yesterday. Regarding my contraceptive pill.
I spoke to her about me being "down" and also my tiredness. We had a good talk.
It seems I "may" have an underactive thyriod gland (I'm turning into my mother aren't I). I go on holiday on Monday, but before I go, I have to see my doctor to get tested and wotnot. I don't like needles.
I am feeling much better in myself atm...was the other day a blip? Not sure. All I know is today I feel better
To you all. I thank you for your kind words of support. To one person especially, your words were of comfort and I thank you so much.

It was scary though. I'm just glad I can take the bull by the horns again.

Make sure the bull is securely restrained first...
