*shrug* a calculator and thinking a bit about what kind of number crounching yields different results usually work.... but then again I always get acused for being to mathsy

it could be automated, but the problem is when the result will be to large to represent in the given language, off course you could then catch that exception but it would lead to not being able to subtract two really huge numbers and getting 42 (it's unlikely anyway).

it is actually quite a lot of work trying to code something which tries any posible number crouncing combination.
