Rains - Wondering where time's going and why it's in so much of a hurry! Posted Nov 4, 2002
There was a brief 80s revival thing over the summer......lots of style magazines featured men with mullets (as well as the odd woman!). It was all very, very scary and fortunately seems to have died along with the summer!

except in alot of the more rural areas of the US... you can tell how far you are from civilization by how many mullets you can count in an area at a given time...
this works everywhere except Nascar events, where they all seem to congregate en masse..

That's not good - bad enough when it's a minority! There's probably a "Mullet Rating" so that you can grade the civilisation level of a particular area - 0 is good, 10 and it's probably not safe to go there alone!
For the race and rally events I go to, there aren't many mullets at all, but it's hard to tell when they're hidden by umbrellas and woolly hats. The collective name for rally fans is "bobble hat" because it's a tradition to wear woolly hats with silly decorations when stnading in the cold, wet British forests waiting for a car to go past.

I think it might be essential to the Nascar events that they be held in terribly hot locations... so unfortunately it is a sea of damp, sweaty mullets...
then again I'm just guessing. Being against both Nascar and mullets..

Yup, that's probably in the regulations for the series!
There should be an "Anti-Mullet" society, and maybe an anti-Nascar society too, as oval racing is boring.
I wish I could say it's nice to be back after my holidays, but it ain't... :o(

It always takes a while to get back into the swing of things after holiday. Especially a particularly good one. Took me forever to get back to reality after my trip to Morocco and the Canary Islands.

True. The better the holiday, the longer it takes. Also it seems that the more work that's piled up in your absence, the longer it takes too!
Never been to Morocco (unadventurous of me) - what's it like?

It was wonderful! Casablanca is a bit of a dump (like most port cities) but Marrakech was fabulous. Of course after being away from the office for two weeks I returned to find myself about two years behind in work...

I know that feeling! Luckily my department are nice and we cover for each other, but I still had a big pile of stuff to wade through (and over 200 emails in my work inbox!)
Am just looking forward to the Christmas holidays now......

Know what you mean. We hadn't had that much of a winter so far, but suddenly the temperature isn't getting above freezing and the wind-chill factor is about -10 degrees C. I have to keep walking to the other end of the site from my office and I could do with thermal underwear out there.
Haven't seen any snow yet, but this country grinds to a halt at the sign of the first snowflake.

Just ice and sleet here. No real snow actually.
I just noticed your updated personal page. Given your talent for smutty conversation you may want to look at the Born Again Tarts and the Church of . Both are linked from my personal page which you can click my name above to get to.

Sorry it's been so long - everything's been hectic just after Christmas. Would have been hectic enough without having to catch up on what I missed on my holidays! You have a good holiday?
We had some snow, and then when it melted we had a good round of flooding! Good old British winters ;o)
Had to downsize my car because of money :o( - fuel and insurance costs here are stupid.

The holidays were nice. Just myself, my parents and my boyfriend. I like small getherings much more than large ones.
I had to downsize as well. My newfound unemployedness and studenthood (by choice no less) was quite a budget shock. When I moved here from NYC I didn't have a car and couldn't reasonably consider buying one since I wasn't planning on earning any money for a while so I've been driving my mother's household truck (the one that hauls lawn stuff etc.) to and from school. Kind of a downgrade really since I was borrowing her Infiniti when I first got here.
Strangely enough the school has seen fit to hire me for a position there (tonight will be my third night working there). Part time until I complete my classes then full time. Now I'll at least be earning a bit of money again and since I'm an employee of the school any classes I take while working there are free.

I know what you mean. Large gatherings tend to get noisy and foster arguments! The trouble with small gatherings is you tend to have a lot of them to cover everyone.....
I kind of went nuts when I got my job, but now I've realised I have quite a lot to pay off (student loans, credit cards etc) and I really need to do something before I pay them for the rest of my days. I thought driving trucks was "fashionable" in a lifestyle-marketing-speak kind of way?
Great news on the job front, at least the extra money and free classes will come in handy. Doing anything good?

Nah... it's mindnumbingly boring... but it's a job and I got my first paycheck small as it may be since classes were cancelled due to weather for part of last week...
