The problem is choice.

I have come to a crossroads in my career as an h2g2 Researcher.

In the past, I used to run a virtual radio talk show here on h2g2. [ A1324252 ] When I had to leave h2g2 for a while, it shut down. I haven't re-opened it because I fear that in the future I may not have the nessicary time to attend to it and constantly provide rebuttals and read backlog and do research and all the things associated with being the only person defending an unpopular point of view in an online debate. Constantly.

Furthermore, I have other h2g2 responsibilities that I have already committed to. My "Silver Sword" fantasy RPG [ A989698 ] is prospering right now and if I were suddenly to have an influx of new players AND new callers on the talk show at the same time, I'm not sure that I'd be able to handle everything and still get good grades in college in the coming semester.

Furthermore, I'd probably have to come up with ways to promote the possible "Grand Reopening" of my talk show and find out whether anywhere in the godforsaken wasteland of h2g2 Radio there is still a station on the air. Both of the "42FM" station managers have either disappeared or been ignoring the radio stations.

My talk show, sometimes called the "42FM Debate Channel" though it was really just me (the Right Wing) debating with everybody else (the Left Wing) was THE happeningest thing on the air at 42FM or else I am greatly mistaken. My talk show was still going for quite awhile even after the rest of the station was not.

So, if I were to start doing this again, I'd want to not only restart my virtual talk show, but start a brand new virtual station to play it on, which would invite other people to get their own shows as well. (playing music, doing news, talking about sports, relationships, or whatever) That way as long as I'm there to run my show I'd know the station was also being attended to. And I would require that the other shows actually *happen* with actual *people* there or else they wouldn't get on the air.

So ... if I was going to do this ... will I have time?

Shouldn't my RPG, that I've already committed to, come first? Probably.

Up to now I've only been getting into short little discussions. But talking to people on some "do atheists goto hell?" thread has got me to thinking that maybe it's time to take up the microphone again.

I haven't decided yet but I will have to soon. To Debate or Not To Debate, that is the question.

Wikipedia's nemesis: Uncyclopedia!

OK, time to 'fess up. smiley - sorry

I haven't been on h²g² much lately because I've been wasting my time editing articles for another site, Uncyclopedia, instead. [ http://uncyclopedia.org/ ] I like both, and I like the "community" feel here better - and the way h²g² is so much more controlled and less vulgar.

But Uncyclopedia is great fun. It's an entire encyclopedia of misinformation and utter lies - using the same MediaWiki software that Wikipedia uses, so anyone can edit any article you make. Of course, this often leads to vandalism [ http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/vandalism ] but people are usually around to turn stuff back if/when it gets vandalized, just like Wikipedia.

I am responsible for having started the Uncyclopedia article on h2g2: [ http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/h2g2 ] and I've also started to writing an h2g2 entry on Uncyclopedia. [ A5832010 ] (of course, it still needs alot of work)

One of the coolest things about Uncyclopedia is how on almost every page they have completely fake quotations at the top of the page that were just completely just made up. I enjoy making more of these up and have been trying to help out with organizing and categorizing all of the "Making up quotes" pages there. Perhaps someone will start a "Making up Douglas Adams quotes" page someday. Perhaps that someone could be [ http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/You ] you.

This site also has it's own Infinate Improbability Drive [ http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Special:Randompage ] and I've got a Personal Space there as well. [ http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/User:Nerd42 ]

smiley - dontpanicI have no intention of leaving h²g² and moving to Uncyclopedia however. On the contrary, I still think h²g² is the coolest site on the Net, (other than mine) with Uncyclopedia second. Check it out! smiley - ok

So, what happens when a heavy-duty h2g2 researcher is gone for a week?

All hell breaks loose, that's what.

By the way, if you're subscribed to my journal and don't like getting periodic random pointless messages that have nothing to do with anything, you'd better unsubscribe now.
