No one has started one yet - but I haven't added the UT time zone code to the time zone table since it's basically the same as GMT, which I think is more widely spread and used

This is true. It is mainly used by Astronomers and Cosmologists. For them it is a worldwide standard clock, regardless of time zone.
Please tell my if I am 'teaching my grandmother to suck eggs' as it were??

I'm so sorry, but English is a foreign language to me, so I'm not familiar with all sayings, expressions, proverbs and so on...
