Good for you Anthea, to stand up and make a change is hard and a lot of people only wish they could do it
As to the debate about mormonism I think if Anthea is prepared to stand up for herself enough to leave her house then she is old enough to make her own decisions about this.
Having said that anthea, don't forget that there are two sides to every story and "an unreliable source" which is anti-mormon is just as unreliable as one which is pro-mormon. Unfortunately objective opinions are often hard to find, and people are inclined to believe the side of an argument they want to believe. Having said that you say you've been researching it for a year and I'm sure you have looked at both sides equally and fairly.
But that is just my opinion and I hope I haven't gona and stirred up the argument again

You have to be careful about how you word a guide entry, it may sound like a recruiting drive otherwise

Scandrea Posted Feb 14, 2005
Anyway, to be honest with everyone here, I didn't that guide entry that Reef came up with to be offensive to anyone- it was very carefully worded, and while it is old and needs updating- badly- it seemed pretty accurate according to the mormon preacher in the department.

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Feb 14, 2005
Actually I thought it was quite informative if out of date, I just thought it was odd, inspirational, spooky or coincidence as it was after posting my thoughts here that it came up on IID

Asmodai Dark (The Eternal Builder, servant of Howard, Crom, and Beans) Posted Feb 14, 2005
Snap. I can see the questions possibly being offensive, but its a necessity bluntness that the writers used to deal with the issue as needed

I don't see how there can ever be a 'reliable' source so far as religion is concerned. The whole concept is based on personal interpretation, experience, fractionality and dogma.

hear hear psyc, who wrote the bible? to quote Dan Brown "It didn't arrive by fax from heaven" the Cathloic bible has a couple of different books to the Protestant, why haven't the dead sea scrolls been added or the Gnostic Gospels for that matter

Not trying to start a debate on the nature of religion though Reef, but needless to say I had similar points to those in mind when I posted.
I'd better stop now because I can get /very/ involved in theological debate, as I'm sure some of you remember...

Im having a crisis of faith at the moment really. Crom or Bushido.
Bushido says learn it first, and then try religion, but Crom would be angered.

I just ment the artical you showed me was a little out of date reef
as far as I can gather mormons havent practiced poligamy for many many years, and even when they did it was unusual. however there may be some brake off groups who still do I'm not too sure.
I've found my experiance so far very interesting, and though I know that people knocking on the door trying to convert those who would rather not have the bother can be... highly iritable for some of you. I dont have any plans to actually become a missionary, just a normal every day church member,
I went to the lancastre temple (i think it was the lancastre temple...)
its a very beutiful building and feels very peacefull and spiritual,
still to meet with the missionarys,
on another note, I have sent "duck-tails" into the post, so hopefully it should appere soon, if any of you are interested in very odd cartoons that is.
my art folio is steadaly increasing.
mums forgiven me... (the lord works in mysterious ways, my mothers a scary woman but i love her none the less)
and I'm happy living here, though Joe goes to Durham this weekend leaving me alone with his family....
Key: Complain about this post
