Personally, I have a Mac. I've never had a problem with the software that I couldn't fix by deleting a few freeware programs (and up until last week I never had a problem with the hardware either), and from what I understand it's pretty damn hard to mess up. It's also UNIX based, so if you're good with that kind of stuff, you can run it from a workstation.

today, I've just put Linux Mandrake on, still got to work stuff out, but various free Linux set-ups are on the web, but Mandrake is the easiest for beginners like me, to start with

you havent become a man have you! just trying to guess, tell me(never stopped being a man) . Redhat Linux and another(can't remember which) can run on Binatone ADSL 500 modem, the rest can't, I think its something to do wih USB ports as well

the set-up with Linux, as far has I know, they can all be downloaded from the net free, but no instuctions, If one was bought from a shop etc, they have instuctions and cost about £20/50, I suppose it depends on how much is on the disc's etc. Best thing is to check the Linux web site, I'm having a look in the next few days
