hoping to skip this part

It is 1 year since I traveled to check on Mom. There was no call, or request, just a feeling of urgency. I was called after being within the state only moments. Mom was just taken to the hospital.....
I am a bit out of sorts, flooded with memories.
Thankful all *timing* is NOT a coincidence.
I must remember the woman I struggled with for decades, did better with her own children than was done to her. That is a measure of her success that I am grateful for and benefitted from.
She gave me a chance at life when no one else would. She taught survival. I eventually learned to thrive, thankfully. I was asked by her; to defend her when she was unable. I did. I withstood every form of verbal abuse, once again being an emotional hostage to her wishes. She died the way she lived. I fought *for* her with the very same stuff I used to fight against her. What irony. Without her previous harsh training ,I could not have withstood the assault.I could not have endured the lack of respect and prejudice from her professionals The thick skinned loyalty required to survive her & maybe myself, pursued. Seeing me through. Her final release in dignity ,by her own last wishes was complete. Thanks for teaching me love is worth fighting for.
Rest in peace Mom

character

Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking.
~ J.C. Watts ~
I was trying to remember when I first heard this concept.
Like a wee persons wondering about the adult words....
I remember thinking OH!
Oh, so that's what it is!
It made perfect sense, easier than some big words and concepts. At least I did not have to *wait till older* to understand it!
Seems the biggest and best concepts are understood by fresh young minds

A legislator in New Mexico wants to make an official Holiday:
"Extraterrestrial Culture Day" would be held the second Thursday of February. It would honor space travelers from other worlds and even give a nod to creatures made famous in movies, such as E.T.

Care Package Info
Posted Mar 27, 2003
There are many programs to send packages to the troops. How ever you may feel about IT the people could use some home comforts. They have decided they cannot have groups and individuals sending packages due to room, time & security concerns/searches.
The USO accepts $25 donations toward Pentagon-approved packages for overseas. The packages contain items requested: CDs, books, toiletries, sunscreen and, the most popular, calling cards - along with a message from the person who provided the contribution.
Most of the packages go to departing troops. Delivering items in battle is a logistical nightmare, said Elaine Rogers, president of the USO of Metropolitan Washington.
American Red Cross spokeswoman Stacey Grissom encourages people to contact their local Red Cross. Volunteering time at veterans' hospitals and helping military families left behind is often more important - and probably more successful - than trying to send cookies or shaving supplies to the front lines, she said.
The support needs to come in the way that the Department of Defense has approved.
