I've been watching 'Heroes' and the man that plays Arthur Petreli (Robert Forster, I think), has an accent I've been trying to place.
Can anyone help?

Speaking of accents, I just watch Catch Me if You Can, and boy has that family got a New Yawk accent. A pleasure to listen to.

IMDB places him in Rochester, NY, USA, which is upstate and has a very distinctive sound. I had an uncle from Rochester, which brought no end of mawkish reactions from Alabamians. He always seemed to operate at five times volume to everyone around him.

Thanks KWDave, that helps.
I know I've heard that accent before, but can't think where.
It sounds so familiar.
