Rowan studied Fine Art and expected to be unemployed for a long long time. Somehow she ended up working at the BBC, first as an ex-Communist countries archivist and then as a message board moderator where she spent the day reading about all things from Snow Watching to learning Elvish. Now almost fully recovered she is the Collective hostess with the mostest and also has a finger in our games, art and books content. She's been writing "some books" for a little while.

Alastair studied economics in London and France, then after a brief period selling shirts in Harrods, found himself interested by all things new media. He was also interested in music and dancing about late at night so began collecting, and very occasionally making, records. When Matt mentioned Collective to him, he decided it was time to settle down.

Matt was on Collective's editorial team (and the brain behind it's birth) until he went to create Film Network. He studied media production. On the side, he produced an alternative dance radio show and played in a band, bizarrely titled Harry Palmer. After graduating, he found himself at Beeb where they promptly got rid of his job but not him. Frustrated that there wasn't anything on the BBC site that interested him, he set about creating it. He still hasn't been found out.
