Just to let you know: if you want to give yourself a more personalized name, go to preferences (on the top if your background is white and on the left if your background is blue) and give that a click. You can control several of your personal features this way.

Welcome to H2G2, I'm glad you've found the site, and hope you enjoy it here. I'm one of the Guardian Angels. We greet new users and try to be generally helpful.

There's lots of useful, useless, fun and interseting stuff here. Sometimes people are too nice and I need to make fun of them a bit, but then we laugh at other people and all is well.

I've been around this site for a few years, on and off. Creating original pieces of writing, reading the creations of others, chatting and creating a little Universe of my own within the H2G2 realm is awesome. If you run across something and discover that you have a question, ask! It may take a few days to get a response from the author, but you'll probably get one, or start a great conversation.

My name is Friar. I'm from Chicago, Ill., USA. I'm in medical school now, but I'll be finishing in May 2003 *he knocks on wood fervently*

Here's my link page, I've put a bunch of fun and helpful stuff in there: A783902. You'll find a link to the Guardian Angels page there. We like to greet new uses and let them know where to turn for help. We're an unofficial lot, but the ACEs, assistant community editors are the official meet-and-greeters and they do a great job too! I believe I dropped # their page on my list too.

If you want to dive in and start writing entries, good for you! Visit some of the sites on my links page for writing for teh Guide, also look at eth Contribute Tag on the H2G2 toolbar. Just so you know, any entry you type is part of the Guide and is subject to the BBCs rules, so check those out. If you want to contribute to the Edited Guide (and appear on the front page!) you can send your entry to Peer Review. Watch out though because you'll be "competing" with anybody else trying to get onto the front page. Best advice is to read a bunch of entries to get used to the "feel", then check out the Guidelines, then try a few entries, perhaps send them to the Writing Workshop for some discussion before Peer Review (especially if it's you first try, or your work is a little "out-there").

You can find me here: A158503 or in my Junkyard at A777305. I'm usually in the Junkyard researching new stuff.

For a bit of whimsy, here are some gratuitous smilies:

Friar

I like the name.
I tend to abridge everyone's name (except a friend name Bels, too short to start with). And THH sounds great!
