Hiya. A few weeks back you said you might have a project involving Talk Buffy and you said you'd get in touch (or summat like that) and I'm just wondering if that's gone away now or something you'd still like to do. If it is something you'd still like to do (whatever it is) I'd be happy to help and I'm sure I could round up the few regular posters that are left
All the best Iago

Hi...
Glad you called...
The "project" is still something I want to do... But certain unexpected events have unfortunately delayed any work I was going to do on it...
Give me a few days to sort out some stuff [and quickly go there to update/add a few things ] and I should have a relatively clear picture of what could be done with it...
It was supposed to be part of my personal website about stuff I like but it quickly took a life of its own instead and became a Buffy related zone... The Buffy related theme could also easily take over the whole website, I don't mind...
While waiting, if you know of anyone having written [or in the process of writing] some Buffy or/and vampires related articles do let me know please...
I know there is already quite a lot of stuff on Hootoo and will eventually add links to the entries there, but some stuff especially written for the project would be great as well...
It doesn't have to be lengthy either... and, while the theme is Buffy or/and vampires related, the sky is the limit regarding what the author want to say...
The advantage of having some DNA members writing some pieces is that when credited their names can be linked to their space on Talk Buffy...
Of course, if they want to submit their piece to PR or the AWW it's no problem, as it will be their work after all and will still belong to them...
If their article makes it to the EG, then there might be a need to move a few things around, but, as far as I know, the author of an edited entry can _still_ use the original [unedited] version as they see fit...
[Adding a line or two with a link to the edited entry at the bottom of the article could do the trick as well...]
I was a bit reticent mentioning that bit as there is still not enough stuff in the "project" to show and I am aware that people would rather lend their creativity skills to something which looks serious or/and relatively professional... Which is understandable...
Once the "Project" is presentable, there will also be a need to promote it though all the _free_ "submit your site" facilities available [Yahoo/Lycos/etc..]... Then it will be _really_ when Talk Buffy could start benefiting from it as more visitors to the "project" could also mean more potential visitors to Talk Buffy...
[ I better add some stuff/links/infos quick now before you ask the address...]
To start with, a reasonable list of links would be great [perhaps around themes?!] as well... There are already some piccies by the way...
Doh!!!!... I didn't intend to say _that_ much about it yet....
Well, now I can't really postpone any needed updating/etc anymore, can I?!..
Talk soon...
loup
PS: Talking about vampires, guess what's the subject of the next "How to.." entry I'm going to submit to the AWW...

Of course, one solution for getting this project ready much faster could be to transform it into a collaborative one...
Then, that way, those who got the keys for it could add stuff to it and update it without having to wait for me to do it [which usually means unexpected delays]...
If that solution interests you, tell me asap and I will open a site straight away and cut and paste what I've already done on it...
If that solution interests you, we will also need a collaborative title [the original one was loup.dargent's Buffy related zone as at the time it was supposed to be on my website]... Any ideas?!
We could also have a kind of portal on h2g2 with a "cross over" page so that researchers from h2g2 and Talk Buffy can be involved...
[those involved being credited in the Researchers credits as well of course]
Give the word and I will be on it straight away... Well, kind of...
Someone having a good knowledge of HTML and all that would be useful as well as it took me ages to come up with some of the effects there at the moment...
Talk soon...

I've got a decent knowledge of GuideML, not sure how similar, if at all, this is to HTML. If they're not similar then I know no HTML. I'd be happy to help with a collaborative project though my time is getting a little precious at the moment but I should be able to contribute and other Talk Buffyers will definately get involved, as soon as you give me details there are a few people I intend to visit

Hi...
HTLM is not _too_ bad [and very similar to GuideML]... It's the other codes which provide "special effects" etc that can give a headache at times...
But, if we are stuck we could "volunteer" one of the nice people from the Programers Corner...
What we need first is enough material regarding Buffy/SMG/vampires/etc so that the space can be seen as "serious" enough ["serious" as "well researched" not as "not fun" ] to attract the attention of the kindred spirits "out there"...
Links [loads of] would be a good start...
Piccies are relatively easy to get [got already a "mini-slide show" there compliments of Lycos (where the page is hosted) plus a search engine ready to look for Buffy piccies there as well...] so it won't be a problem...
Lycos provides a facility for polls... Now, that's something where we could do with more themes/ideas...
So, if you have some ideas/suggestions regarding themes for polls on Buffy/etc don't hesitate to let me know... The more polls the better...
Trivia stuff... Again, Lycos provides us with a facility which allows us to have a different "trivia" info appearing every day with the added bonus of possible feedback from the visitors...
Etc... etc... etc...?!
It won't be a problem transferring the original Buffy related zone page to a new site...
I might have to change the background though as it was specifically done for mine...
Where I might have some delay is in doing the main page [Index etc...] as I kind of messed it up for my website... But, then again, I know what _not_ to do now so it might be ok...
, I stop there as action talks louder than words etc...
I will see what I can do today/tonight...
If all goes well we should be able to go "public" by the end of next week... As long as the site is "presentable" enough it should be alright as stuff will be added on a [hopefully] regular basis after that...
Talk soon...

I've actually had plans to do a full blown Buffy Guide Entry, the ones that currently exist aren't very good, it's just a matter of finding time to do it
Hullo loup.
Loup Dargent Posted Mar 15, 2004
Certainly a great idea...
From what I've read in the Edited Guide they're out of date as well anyway...
A full blown Guide Entry sounds like a titanesque task though...
Time is always a problem...
[Oh and while we're on the subject of time (well, kind of), I wanted to stress that there is _no_ specific deadline regarding the project...
We can add stuff as we go along...
We don't want to put people off contributing...
Plus, I know from experience that unexpected delays happen all the time (they do for me anyway ) and, that's without the darn RL's commitments which already limits too much our online time...]
I was surprised to see how "the Slayer" was translated in French...
"La Tueuse"... Doesn't sound right somehow... Doesn't sound as powerful as "Slayer"... Or maybe I've put too much meanings in the word "slayer" itself...
Oh yes, that also means that I visit the French Buffy fan sites sometimes...
Talk soon...

In about a month I should have more time than I know what to do with, it's just in the next 5 weeks I have to write and hand in over 12,000 words of various uni exercises. Hopefully by this time next week that'll be down to about 8,000 words.
I was thinking that for the moment I would do quite a general entry, with some basic background for the characters and a synopsis for the seven seasons, it'll just have to wait for a few weeks and Uni takes over for once

Sounds reasonable enough...
I'm going back to work on Thursday night...
But I tried to start work on as many things as possible during my time off...
Then, all I will have to do is spend a little time on them when I come back from work...
I also intend to make a better use of my travelling and breaks time and write stuff down then as well...
I haven't been organised enough since I've started that job...
But, hopefully this time I will get it right...
If it doesn't go according to plan, I still can use my days off [I only work four nights a week...] to make up for any lost time...
I wish my PC was not as slow as it is... The time wasted waiting to access stuff at times is incredible and does bring unnecessairy delays [as well as frustration]...
Talk soon...

I'm glad I made a point to say there was no deadline for this project... I had a _few_ delays piling up...
Still, it's not all bad... I've managed to visit more websites having to do with Buffy [] and some having to do with building a site []... And some having to do with other Tv shows with vampires in them ["Forever Knight" rings a bell?!...]...
Got someone interested in writing articles about vampires as well...
Had someone who writes Fanfiction too, but she doesn't seem to visit h2g2 at the moment... Fortunately I've got her own website addy... I will try to get in touch with her as son as possible...
Hmmmm... ... Better carry on with working on the project...
"Waves to Egon..." There will be something more concrete to see soon[ish]... Just some details that need to be sorted first...
loup
PS: Got the "Once more with feeling" DVD at last...
I'm in heaven...
