August:
1. Inspiring awe or admiration; majestic: the august presence of the monarch. See Synonyms at grand.
2. Venerable for reasons of age or high rank.
Good work, maybe September will be more relaxed....

Every August is a pain. And the last two weeks of October - which is when I have to close the books on our fiscal year. I am really looking forward to November and December, which are our slowest months of the year. And this year I don't have a building under construction or an automation project or a major move or....... I won't know what to do with myself. Maybe I can be a librarian again.

Lil, I have a long list already of things gto do for the trip. For example, on Sept 24 I have to drive 235 miles to my sister's to pick up the cranbery wine. And I have to get the marshmallow blow guns made.

Now you've dealt with August - you'll have time for the more important stuff
Marshmallow guns
Can you keep some for July 2006?

Didn't you delegate any of that? I would've delegated it all. Except for the Staff Evaluations. You need those to hold your power over your drones.
G'job.

Hypatia Posted Aug 28, 2005
There isn't anyone to delegate it to. Our budget is so trashed that I am working with a skeleton crew. They all have plenty of work of their own. And the entire staff is paid hourly. I can't afford to pay them overtime. And can't afford to pay part-timers full time benefits. It's lonely at the top.
I had to decide whether to give everyone raises next FY or hire some more people. I put it to the people I have and they naturally said they'd rather have less help and more money for themselves. So that's what I did. So for the entire 06 FY we will be at least one person short per shift and two people short on some shifts.
With luck the economy will get a lot worse and interest rates will go sky high again and we will be able to get a decent return on our investments. We are only able to make conservative investments since we are a public entity. Our endowment isn't bringing in nearly enough income for us to run the library properly.
David, marshmallow blow guns are great fun. They are made out of pvc pipe and you shoot miniature marshmallows at each other with them. There will definitely be marshmallow blow guns at the Great Hillbilly Meet of 06.

How very entertaining! Like a bizarre variation of water pistols, but so much more fun.
Why do libraries everywhere have such poor budgets? Our budget for acquisitions goes down every year, despite wailing and gnashing of teeth from library staff, academics and students.

Hi, Lady Chattingly and welcome to h2g2!
Hyp, I am shocked. You told your sister about your internet weirdo friends? You must be preparing her for next summer's hillybilly bash.
