...if the television stations would call first rather than just show up to film their news pieces. Give me a few minutes to compose my thoughts, run a comb through my hair, put on some lipstick, that sort of thing. At least this time I was properly dressed. I'm wearing my "Don't Panic" tee shirt. Hey, it's transportation related.
I'll be glad when this preview is finished and I can relax a bit. The exhibit is gorgeous. I'm on my way right now to take photos of it for my Fotki page.

How dare they treat a star like that? Tell them you want a bowl of M&Ms in your dressing room - take all the blue ones out.
Congrats on the exhibit. Can't wait to see pics.

I just watched In the Loop two nights ago, brilliant. I've never enjoyed the deleted scenes on a disc as much as that one. Some of the grandest profanity I've ever heard. Ranks right up there with Billy Connelly. I love the sound of certain ing words in a Scottish Accent.

Here's the link, Dmitri. I haven't done any editing and don't have time right now. As a consequence there are some there that will likely be deleted. Sorry the album is so large.

The preview was very successful. We had a good crowd. Everyone was complimentary. The food was excellent (sliders with grilled onions, cheesy fries, custard from Culvers and sugar cookies shaped like trains.)We had a string quartet that was even better than we expected.
We almost had to cancel the cheesy fries due to a fear that the heat from the cooking would set off the sprinklers. I called the fire department and had them send our inspector out. He decided they could grill the sliders inside but had to set up the deep fryer outside the back door. What a kerfuffle. It was in the 20s by evening. But one brave volunteer bundled up like an Eskimo and stood outside frying potatoes. Now the library will smell like hamburgers for days.

Without the indecipherable lingo, that is one damned fine exhibit, Hyp. Your efforts and exhaustions have been well worthy of it all. Of course, I assume your grill volunteer had some proper Canuck gear?

Hyp, while it's a large file, there's a lot there that's fascinating, like the close-ups of the panels, showing the old photos of the travelers and immigrants. I hope you won't be too ruthless in deleting pictures. It's really a great show, one I wish I could visit. Bravo!
[You shouldn't have mentioned cheeseburgers, now I want one -- and I don't even like them!]

Great exhibition - lovely rooms. Is it children who have made the posters about different countries in the world?

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
tartaronne, the posters were made by 4th graders at one of our elementary schools. So most of the kids are aged 9. The concept was for them to create a poster about the country where their ancestors originally lived. We got 100 posters.

Thanks Lil. It was very hard to get good photos because I don't have room to get back far enough from the separate displays to give a sense of perspective. Plus, as everyone here knows, I'm a carp photographer.

Great displays...Obviously a lot of hard work and creativity went into it. Feeding a bunch of folk at a reception is no mean feat, either...Good Job...

Hey J. Long time no talk. I hope you and M are well and content. I still plan to make it out there one of these days.
The schools are closed due to weather so our school tours for yesterday and today were cancelled. Turns out the school district doesn't plan to reschedule them, so those kids have just missed out. I'm rather cross about the whole thing.

Thanks Hyp, we are quite well and happy up here on the high plains...I hope the same for you and Syn over there in Ozark land. Glad to hear your plans, though delayed, haven't changed.
It is annoying when students miss an opportunity for interesting, educational and informative field trips. It's rare that a school would cancel and not reschedule a ball game or stock show. Academics need to be put back at the top of the priority list.

Just the thought of not rescheduling a football game causes the walls to vibrate. We won state again this year, in case you haven't heard. But a trip to the library is a lot lower on the ladder.
