Introducing Dick
I thought I'd sign on as I was in the middle of "The Salmon of Doubt" and saw the multiple references to www.h2g2.com
I'm already in trouble because I cannot decide whether to punctuate a sentence that ends with a url.
This is of course nonsense as technically all URLs should end with a full stop as that is the top of the heirarchy - the root servers.
Reading
I enjoy reading - and thinking (up to a point). I've been a HHGTG fan since the first radio series and I still have a manky set of cassettes of it that I play to the family in the car.
This makes me very sad (of course) because I keep quoting said guide at inappropriate (and appropriate) times.
Writing
I write - but only in short paragraphs.
Webmastering
I do not consider myself a WEB designer (you may well agree!) but I have produced a number of WEB sites so this is a sort of "Portfolio that proves I could do better, - and that others could do much better". I did them all for free so this brings to mind a saying about paying peanuts...
I work with Radio Worldwide, a Christian charity. We are developing a not for profit, free, audio website at http://www.radioworldwide.net this is my latest effort at the time of writing.
Radio Worldwide have another site at http://radioworldwide.org which aims to tell fellow Christians what we do. Hidden away somewhere there are some free bits of software (which I also wrote).
I built a site for a local charity working mostly in Haiti, called Hands of Hope http://www.handsofhope.org.uk
They sprang out of our local Baptist Church - and surprise surprise - I set up their WEBsite with a friend at http://www.wakefieldbaptist.org.uk
I also set up a community website for my local town, this is temporarily housed on my work website at http://radioworldwide.gospelcom.net/rothwell/index.php
I'm part of the Rothwell Entertainments Committee which is most entertaining! And I did help set up their site too! This is being redesigned at http://freespace.virgin.net/rothwell.ents
Listening
I listen to Pink Floyd, Sting, Dire Straits, and loads of other stuff. I bought myself the Pulse video for my 50th Birthday and the family are fed up with it (I'm not!)
Believing
I am a convinced theist unlike one of my favourite authors (DNA) and like one of my other favourites (CSL).
Leaving
More comments may follow if I get bored or am asked. Meanwhile I'd like to get back to the Rhino.
