CHRONIC DEPRESSION AND LOW SELF-ESTEEM

Chronic Depression is an illness like any other. But there are still people out there who think people who say there are depressed are malingering and are only doing it to get attention. People who have depression tend to be very withdrawn and do not seek attention at all but rather hide and be forgotten.

Yes, I've definitely gone through periods of depression, although not chronic depression . Thank goodness for things like what I refer to as my 'Music Therapy'. I'll be going for that in about 6 hours, I put together 'finger food' (microwave popcorn, etc) at a cozy little Jazz & Blues club. I find the music very relaxing (& stimulating sometimes), the personal contact certainly helps...& the odd free or 1/2 price doesn't hurt either.

Thank you Jazzedupcurry for your very kind advice and consideration. I have tried to go the little jazz & blues club but I keep on getting booted and I have to switch my tv and then come back here throuch my Cable tv digibox interactive service.

Hmm, kind of odd kat!
Not so much advice as something that works for me. I realize that Chronic Depression is a whole other 'ball of wax' .

Do not *listen* to persons who do not understand or have not experienced it Kat. You know what U know, nobody can take that.
You are also not alone here at hootoo. Many have known the experiences & struggles of depression. Do not waste your time trying to change peoples minds unless it is for understanding or education.
Filter peoples access to you if neccesary. Even those that have been around for ages (family = + or- ?). If they do only harm, whatever their intentions, walk away, for now at least. Try not to burn those bridges while prioritising your healing energies and people.

Dear Katrine,
I do realise that everything is not easy for you and you want to change everthing in your life.
It won't be easy we both know that.
1/you are doing that course if you could make a career out of your IT skills you will be laughing
2/Making friends is very hard I know, I do have friends but they a bust with their owns lives so I don't hear or see much of them so I am on my own quiet alot. For you to make friends would either go out for a drink locally or when we go to that singles nite or to join a club of some kind. There are so many people who don't have any freinds is not easy to find them.LD was good for naking freinds.
3/You do need your own place your own space etc then you can invite friends round when you have a b/f it will change your life completely. But I doubt if you have get a council place you would most likely have to rent privately there are some have will except rent payments off the social as you might need there help to start off with,to get on your feet
These are the things that will make you happy that will change your life. You know I am hear for you anytime you want to talk.Talking is good for you,it is better than bottleing everything up.
I am going up to Scotland tomorrow until Tuesday next week.I did say it is quiet serious and if everthing goes the way it has been well he has popped the question.No-ones knows we won't rush into anything as it's not straight forward as I have Sarah and Chel to think of but if anyone moves it would be me or us should I say. That is looking miles ahead but for now we are spending Easter together and will get to meet his daughter.
The only thing that will get rid of depression and low self astem is when the changes in your life start to happen finding a job which means you will be able to afford everthing you want to do getting your own place having a b/f making freinds etc.I will help all I can and as I said I am here for you,so you are not alone
Love Mags
