Hello
I started up a Fantasy RPG, extremely fun adventure, called The Magicians Guild. It has many memebers and are still looking for more. I think you would be a great asset to this if you would please join us. I would just like you to look at it.

You can choose to be a Magician in a War between good and evil. There are many smaller quests and adventures. It is a awesome RPG and I think you would love it too.....

I have an idea for a character... but he wouldn't be quite as conventional as the others... does a magician have to be part of the guild? 'cos I have an idea for a character who is very much a lone wolf, he could have been trained by the guild and then left for his own reasons... but to be part of the adventure would I have to be part of the guild at first? I can see that you'd have to give me a rough sort of level so everyone knows what sort of stuff I can do... If you like I'll give you a brief idea of the sort of character I'm thinking of.

You can tell me about your character.
We have one person who is apart of hte guild but hes like a store owner instead of being in the guildhouse itself.
We also have a hermit who lives away from the guildhouse but hes in the guild. You know what i mean?

Well, assuming that my character couldn't have picked up magic elsewhere (if he could let me know) he would have been trained by the guild. Having been trained he then left it as he felt that staying there was not the right way to go about things, he wanted to scout out the land and to try and help people without the guidelines the guild had, as such he is a lone wolf. If he was trained by the guild he hasn't been seen in a while and perhaps not many people there know of him, that can be up to you, whatever the case there haven't been any confirmed sightings of my character in many years and there is some speculation that I am dead, certainly I have not remained in contact at all. (if I could have been trained/learnt magic through a source with no connection to the guild then I would have learnt that way and have been outside the guild totally but there might be a few, mainly ignored, rumours of one such as myself).
Also having looked at the page I was wondering, are PCs meant to develop their own spells at about their own level, based on the class they are or are there guide lines somewhere that I've missed (I've seen the enchanting weapons and items page)

I have made a few guidlines for the level at which classes can be used for. Although I left it up to the user or the teacher on how powerful they can become. You could be by yourself, like a lone agent of the guild. Especially with the war and all it wouldnt be unheard of.

I see them now I should have looked! I assume from your answer that being totally independant of the guild is impossible (as in never trained by them, trained by someone/something else) right?
I'm conisdering being blue or red... I'm just wondering, are red a lot more focused on actually hand to hand fighting, rather than spell casting (using spells on weapons etc)?
Finally (sorry to ask so many questions ) do you start at the lowest level and work up or how does that system work?

Well sadly we already got so many in the upper levels that theres only 1 person in the lower levels. So i would prolly give you novice.
Red focus' more on weapons and very few offensive spells. They rely on there enchantments on there weapons, armor, or items to be a formidable force.
You could be by yourself experimenting with spells. Since you could learn how to use magic by yourself, but it wouldn't be as effect as you would learn from a teacher.

ok... I'm gonna start making my character now, just two more questions (sorry... you must get a lot of this! Its the Game Master's privilage though, I know the feeling myself!)
Do the Red's spells contain spells that make them more offensive e.g. making them more accurate, making them more likely to notice enemies, or are they just weapon bonuses?
Secondly when you travel between places I *think* you've said you have to move from one place to another, you can't be omnipresent, I'm just wondering do you have to post in every thread enroute e.g. if I was going from the town to an outpost would I have to post in the town saying "I'm leaving" on the roads saying "passing through" then in the outpost or what?

The Red spells are just for battle there abouts e.g. Making them stronger, casting small but slightly powerful "nuke" spells, enchancing your weapons....
And yes you would need to post where you are going. Saying like, "I'm leaving." Then in 2 seconds you arrive on the other side of the country just doesn't seem right eh?
