Hi
Researcher U197087 Posted Jul 3, 2007
The Pretenders are supporting Rod Stewart at Portman Road tonight. We can hear Chrissie Hynde soundchecking from work.

Oh, it's lame now? Grr. Rich, coming from a supporter of the Brothers Reid Mimicry Campaign.
Hi

I sure hope you manage to escape work before Rod Stewart gets started! God, wouldn't it be terrible to be subjected to that. I don't suppose you've ever seen the episode of South Park where Rod Stewart puts on a gig, in a wheelchair, groaning "I pooped 'em" into the mic...
I never really feel "up" to being productive at work the day before a holiday. Fortunately, most everyone else in the office is even less so, and I tend to do most of my goofing quietly, at my own desk, so it usually goes unnoticed.
While the weather might not be too bad tomorrow, we have no plans and have resolved to spend the day lollygagging around in our PJs and doing a whole lot of nothing.
Hi
Researcher U197087 Posted Jul 3, 2007
We're getting some hardcore thunderstorms now, so with any luck some spark of lightning will strike Rod at the mike and mute him for good.
Lollygagging, what an excellent word - I never thought of choking on a popsicle as a recreational activity. Maybe I'm not thinking of the right kind of popsicle.
Hi

I've never seen the abbreviation spelled "mike". Hmm. Maybe it's just that I majored in radio? Sorry if I confused you.

No, I haven't either, I just had a stupid moment.
Latin of the day - Tua Mater in Hades fellatit.
Happy Birthday America.

You need to get out a bit more.
On the news last night they reported that over a million people showed up down by the pier and Grant Park to watch the fireworks. Now I remember why I don't go. Although at least last night it wasn't so bloody hot and humid.
I occasionally show up for the fireworks on New Year's Eve, though I no longer cough up the admission to the WXRT party thing- it's doubled in price over the last 10 years or so. Though I wouldn't have minded seeing Missing Persons last year, it wouldn't have been worth $115 for that and a single glass of cheap champagne.
Just hanging out at home today, K, Herman and I. We've rented some really awful sounding horror flicks for the occasion.
Hi

Wiki says WXRT delivers "Chicago's Finest Rock". No doubt there's a few crack houses who'd dispute that.
I'd avoid anything that middle-of-the-road; stupid money to share a moment with the rest of the bovine majority, the Millenium Dome experience being an excellent case in point. There's bound to be something properly alternative to enjoy, for a lot less, with better music and a decent crowd..?
Either way, have a nice day.

Well, I do occasionally pop around the Taste on my lunch break (though I didn't this year; been too busy working to take a lunch break most days), but yeah, I generally avoid the bog bovine crowds of visiting tourists and suburbanites.
There were some fairly spectacular DIY fireworks in the parking lot of the bank across the bust street that intersects with mine (my building is two doors down from that intersection) last night, anyway. Highly illegal, of course, but still cute.

Just checked out your blog entry on lolcats. I had no idea there were sites devoted to these...

This weekend I'll mostly be hiding from the world and saving what I can towards beer and stupid hat money for the fezzy. Have a good one
Hi

That was was hilarious!
Enjoy hiding. I'll be hiding a great deal, too, though from the heat, as opposed to the rest of the world. I imagine we'll watch a couple of movies, and if I can motivate myself, we can swing by the post office and mail out the packages.
It's the middle of the longest hour (about 3:20 PM and I wasn't planning to leave till 4:00 or so). I'm caught up, work wise, except for a couple hours' worth of filing I'm still putting off. I'm SO bored.

If you ever need legal representation PC, you must get hold of this guy. http://www.bcm-law.com/Bio/MichaelBrandow.asp?
I can't breathe. That's one hell of an espresso dude... brings back fond memories of John Lithgow in 3rd Rock.
Have a nice weekend

Hmm. His downtown office is roughly six blocks (3/4 of a mile) from mine. I wonder what he looks like in real life, as opposed to in photos? Though I can't imagine what I could ever need Workers Compensation for; the worst injury I've ever sustained at the office was a severe paper cut.
I'm one of those people who looks deranged in most photos. My passport photo looks like a mug shot. So does my (long expired) state issued ID card photo.
And digital photos are worse!

Oops- you have a nice weekend, too.
(What the hell am I doing up at this hour on a Saturday?)
Hi

You take a fine photo. I've got plenty of evidence of it.

Hi

Now that was fun!
Nothing exciting enough going on to stimulate anything clever and entertaining from me at this hour... but I did make my own Lolcat and submit it. Haven't seen it at their site as of yet, but I posted it at my blog.
