The Picture Emdedding fails hopelessly on lots of configurations. While the browser has no image information at the time the text has to be alligned. When the image is downloaded there is not enough space left for the whole surface, the browsers just leave out a part of the image.

Hmm, not very clear I am afraid. It happens the image is just displayed half, while the embedding fails due to lack of information. This can be repaired by explicitly using Height and Width tags."
