I'm convinced we can convert them - they're not stupid just seem to have bypassed the basic ways in which this place works (the fact that different conversations should stay on different threads)

I wouldn't worry though, everything I've said so far has gone in one ear and out the other...despite trying to speak directly to one particular person at a time.

I'm not giving up - I might start to spend some time in the foLDers arms to try to get them to lurk throughout the site (this is the problem I think - too much talking not enough lurking outside of the LD areas). I think the ACE system has failed these people...even just a nudge towards the netiquette page to hint the h2g2 has been around a lot longer than LD has and that it's general manners are different to LD.

Re. the ACE thing - quite a few of them appear to be ACEs. Lord knows why, it appears ACE badges are given away as easily as buttons. I certainly hope that people with more mature and open attitudes welcome newbies onto the site

I've started threads myself about this, but figured in the end that if the chatterz stay out of debate, than that's cool.

Personally, I'd rather h2g2 wasn't treated as a chat site at all, but it ain't my site!

There was rumour that LD itself would be up and running again - as said many moons ago, I imagine that the worst of the bunch will go back there.
