What happens, then, if you accidentally
leave some Gammeldansk outside in the
winter?

!! I saw that Aquavit in a certain furniture store, but I didn't buy any. When I looked it up in the Guide, the ingredients etc looked really good. Similar to Gammel Dansk ? Hey, no, Heaven forfend that I should start a quarrel over which is best. Let's all enjoy both. Could I just throw in some Schinkenhager ? I first tasted it in Germany many years ago, and associate it with happy memories. It's a delicious drink, and to me, it's at it's best really icy cold. It's quite good with an Umlaut as well, but when I tried to put the little dots over the 'a' and previewed it, it looked like a medieval omelette. It's just as nice without, anyway. Hold on, I'll see if there is any.

Don't see any Schinkenhager. Yeah, I like Jagermeister as well. I looked up Schinkenhager on Google, and read that the distillers were keen to produce a drink which was "gravitational for young consumers". That certainly solved a mystery! I always wondered why it made me heavier and heavier, until eventually I was stuck to the ground. It's bottled gravity! The distillers succeeded in producing a gravitational drink! A scientific breakthrough! (the page was an automated translation of a French document). Anyway, I'm for another . It's non-gravitational so I'll drift up and up .

I happened to be in a package store
this afternoon (in America, stores
that sell liquor are called package stores),
and looked for Gammel Dansk. I didn't
see any.

I'm not too surprised - there probably needs to be a certain amount of people of Danish heritage around for Gamme Dansk to sell enough to carry it on the shelves. We'll teach the world - but it takes time
Tx for the explanation about the package store. Now, I'm only worried about the furniture store mentioned further up. I certainly do not hope anybody would be mistaking Gammel Dansk for furniture polish...

I found some Gammel Dansk in a delicatessen/wine&liquor store of high reputation. Much classier than a furniture store. They had one bottle up on the top shelf. They advised me they don't always stock it, just from time to time.
I didn't know about 'package stores'. It sounds a bit seedy, it gives me a picture of people furtively concealing bottle-shaped packages as they leave the store. Is that right? If I were going to an exclusive party, would I embarrass myself if I said I had just come from the package store? In Scotland we sometimes talk about the 'offie'. It's an abbreviation of 'off-licence store'. 'Offie' rhymes with 'coffee', by the way...

This is an exclusive party? Someone could have told me earlier and I would have put on some nice clothes. O well, nothing I can do about it as I'm not planning on leaving any time soon.
Down here in Australia they got the best inventions when it comes to alcohol. The got Drive-Tru bottleshops!!! And of course casce wine(not sure about the spelling(to much )): 4 liters of wine for about AUS$ 10-12. Great. Always go for white though.
*takes another and munches some *
