Hey, PC: I had some tofu left over that needed to be used up before I move, so I made this for dessert and it's quite nice! http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/000310.html (Mine's mint, not almond.) I think it's just what you need to de-grump you. It would also make a good cake filling, instead of buttercream.

Mmm, sounds fantastic!
And the good news- I tried using some almond milk recently, and had no bad reaction. So I upped the ante and have used more of it, and have nibbled other nuts here and there, with no nasty effects whatsoever.
So not only do I have another protein and fat source available to me, but I can make more desserts.
I'm going to try that!
Also, I inspected the little rabbit. he has a hole in the roof of his mouth my finger fits into.

Mar, thanks for the comic!
I can view anything from home. At work, nothing with streaming media, political or religious, and no "cultural institutions". Why cultural institutions?

Hey for almonds! Now Mar can give you recipes for delicious Spanish cold soups with almonds, grapes and garlic.

Besides almonds, I've done Ok with a bit of cashew. Which will be useful when I want to use more recipes from my un-cheese cookbook. Also macadamias and pistachios seem OK.

Damn you! I shake my virtual fist at you with your fancy almonds! I used to looooove marzipan but now it makes my mouth all funny so almonds and marzipan are now both on the 'to be avoided' list. (you know I'm just jealous, right?)
Anybody know any good origami?

My party trick is an origami frog. You have to inflate it by blowing up its arse.

IctoanAWEWawi Posted Mar 27, 2009
Oooh, I bet it uses the same initial folds as my origami rabbit -only for that you inflate it by blowing up its nose!
Can also be used to make an origami paper box which you can fill with water and put on a hot plate and watch the water boil whilst the paper remains unscorched - practical science is

Sorry for bragging, ismarah. I'd always missed out on things with marzipan and amaretto, etc, so I know what it's like.
No idea what makes an allergy suddenly clear up like that, but no complaints!
On another note entirely, I wonder to what extent my recent grumpiness might be a side effect of my you-know-what?

Not *that* you-know-what. The IUD. Let's just say I've had all of the other unpleasant potential side effects, and constantly.

That said, it looks like K and I may be attempting to at the very least remove this faucet on our own over the weekend. If possible, we hope to get it out, take it to the store, match it up and buy a replacement. Then we can ask our friend to come by early next week and help put it in, and he need only come by once and for a short time.

You've a faucet up there too?!!! Oh - I see. *That* faucet.
Yeah - I knew you meant the IUD. Never to be confused with an IED. You'd certainly not want one of *them* up there!

Well, it felt more like an IED going in.
Yes, I know I should just ask my landlord to repair the kitchen faucet. But the last time he repaired something minor (the oven door was sticking) he rendered it effectively useless. I would rather invest a few hours of my time, and a little of my own money, and have a decent quality, fully functional faucet. He's likely to leave it leaky, or muck things up worse so that the dishwasher doesn't work, either. He's kind of oblivious, when it comes to the smaller stuff (the big things, like the furnace or the aircon, he doesn't mess around with... but little things, he tries to do himself, on the cheap).
Meanwhile other people are pissing me off. We all have that one or two people at work whose failure to do what they are supposed to means those of us who do need to scramble at the last minute. I'm not in the mood for it today.

You can have Her Supreme Catesty as well. She is a very grumpy cat. Beats at least once daily one of the other Lair Cats with the Paw.

I seem to have been owned by a new cat.
Since I moved in there was a ginger and white from next door that owned my house (including knocking on the door!) and used to sit and sun itself. Then it disappeared (not sure why, neighbours never said owt).
Over the last couple of days though I have several times come into the kitchen in the morning before leaving and looked out the window to see a black with white bits cat sat on top of the bin. Also found it sat in the front porch bit in the evening. Seems to curl up in and have that 'dare you to shift me' type look. It knows it is taking over the territory and is seeing what I do I think. First time it ran off. Now it just curls up and opens half an eye to look at me. Bob knows where it has come from.

I'd share my current grumpness cure - getting the damned grade I've been working on finally! About 5 weeks late for various reasons, but it's mine, all mine.
It's the proverbial weight lifting, innit?
