Oktoberfest '03

YAY! I am now officially booked up for my fifth trip to Oktoberfest in Munich. After missing out last year (my best friend chose an 'unfortunate' weekend for his wedding....smiley - winkeye) we are even more resolute to make it this year.

So - only 249 days, 21 hours, 9 minutes and 27 seconds to go....

Pink Pig

smiley - stiffdrink Welcome to The Psycho Chicken's Alcoholic Recipe Page smiley - stiffdrink
Today's recipe - "Pink Pig"

You will need:

A 70cl bottle of Smirnoff Vodka (or other decent stuff - it doesn't work with cheapo vodka - I tried)
Two bags of Strawberry flavour Campino sweeties.
A couple of sealable freezer bags (you'll rip the first two at least)
A rolling pin.
A mortar and pestle (is that spelled right?)
A jug with a spout.
A bowl of warm water.
Two Anadin tablets.
A glass of water.

Method:

Drink the vodka down to the top of the Smirnoff label. If you're not using Smirnoff, then you'll just have to guess. Leave to one side.

Unwrap the Campinos (yes, they're all bloddy individually wrapped in the bag). Place a handful in the freezer bag, seal it, and knock the crap out of them with the rolling pin, taking care to break all the sweets into bits not bigger than 3-4mm across and not ripping the bag (that's the tricky bit).

Transfer the broken sweets to the mortar and pestle and grind them down until they're powder. Keep the powder in pouring jug. Repeat until you have ground up about one-and-a-half bags of the Campinos and eaten the rest. If you haven't eaten the rest then you probably won't like Pink Pig.

Add A LITTLE of the powder to the vodka by pouring carefully from the jug into the bottle. Shake vigorously (you did put the lid on didn't you?) and stand in the bowl of warm water to aid dissolving. Leave for about 10-15 minutes. Come back and give it a shoogle every now and then.

Repeat until all the powder is used. You will find that the liquid will separate into a translucent pink layer and a white cream layer on top - just keep mixing it - it'll be fine.

Once all the sweeties are dissolved, and there is no (well, almost none) sediment, put the bottle in the freezer overnight.

Shake bottle beofre serving - it looks really cool when the layers mix in the bottle. Serve cool, in a shot glass.

The next morning, take the Anadin tablets with the glass of water.

Enjoy!!

New Orleans and websites

For those who follow such things....

My website has been updated with new music stuff - there's a playlist mainly with stuff bought in New Orleans, and also my top five (OK, ten) CDs of the year too.

Also on line for your blackmail offers is the first part of my New Orleans roving report. The rest will be up soon.

Enjoy, ignore. See if I care... smiley - biggrin

Where to go

I have two weeks to go somewhere fun and interesting in November. Recommendations please folks.

I'm thinking two or three European cities, or a few places in the US at the mo, but I'm totally open to suggestions.

Which road should the Psycho Chicken cross next??
