WARNING - Camel on the Road
Posted Oct 27, 2003
Well, tomorrow I jet off to London to see Camel on their farewell tour. They've been making great music for 30 years (although I've only been listening for about 10) so it's sad to see them leave us, but by all accounts all the stops are being pulled out for this grand goodbye, including special guests and a truckload of vintage equipment to capture that classic camel sound.
The plane leaves tomorrow morning, returning Wednesday, and I'm hoping to take in Gerald Scarfe's exhibition at the National Gallery, catch up with some old friends, and see Interstella 5555 (the Daft Punk movie) while I'm down there to make the whole trip worthwhile.
Whoopee!

The Chicken vents

Well first it was slow as a week in Barlinnie, and then I couldn't log in for two days, and now I keep having to log in every half an hour because it keeps forgetting who I am. The question is - what the heck are they playing at with h2g2???
Why do we have to be lumped in with all the other BBCi resources anyway? I don't particularly want to be a member of an on-line community to discuss Buffy the Vampire Slayer or the pros and cons of living in Devon. I don't want to talk about World War 2 or the trials of parenthood. I'm not interested and unqualified.
And the list of conversations. Why do you have to tell me that there are no new entries, never mind TWICE? Space is a premium on homepages as it is without shoving the main section of the page into a yet narrower space.

Bad boy!

Well it's a first! I've upset the moderators!!!
I had my nickname as the German for 'Saturday Night is Oktoberfest Night', which apparently is unacceptable, so they reset it. OK, so there's a rule about not having foreign posts, but I think that's taking things a little far. Especially when it wouldn't even need an O grade in German to work out what it meant. I'd reproduce it here to illustrate the point, but I'd better not - stick it through babelfish (ironically, a DNA inspired translation tool) if you want to see what I mean.
What if my actual name was foreign? Would that be banned?
Ach well. (oops, used some Scots there....)

Oktoberfest countdown
Posted Sep 10, 2003
It's just a couple of weeks till my annual trip to Munich for the beer soaked fun fest that is - the Oktoberfest!!! I say annual, we didn't quite make it last year, but that just makes us all the more resolute to manage this year.
It's a revolutionary early-week approach this year. We arrive on Sunday and hope to try out some of the smaller tents on Monday and Tuesday. They're usually packed out at the busier times.
The whole thing kicks off next weekend, and we join in a week later. Drinking wellies at the ready....
ein, zwei, GSUFFA!!!!!
