It was a 130 year old sword that had been made in England, and presented to a particular officer in the American Civil War.... and not to be used in food preparations.

The appraiser (it was on Antiques Roadshow, the American version) pointed out all the special things like the engraving and the Sheffield mark. Then, he clearly told the man NEVER EVER use it to slice another watermelon.
