I'm looking forward to it. I'm off to the Liverpool Uni dinner in a couple of weeks time so all in all it should be a highly entertaining weekend. All rounded off by a trip up the cathedral tower.

Scrummy! It's only ttypical that the winter meet up falls on our annual dinner. Still, I have been invited to the Cambridge one, so that's good.

I'm afraid there is no choice. h2g2 wins hands down. Missing the opportunity of missing this bunch of freaks? never in a million years! and I've brought the fairy wings and everything!

The thought of so many of them in one go....... I'd liked to have come but I'm ringing a peal in Worcester so there wasn't any chance.
Wave a at them all for me.

Ah well. I'll send your regards.
You can come to the summer meet instead! (at least, I think there's one. There ought to be, anyway).

Morning VIP, did the meet go ?
The peal? Hmmm that sort of went 'crunch, crash' after about 40 mins.
The quarter Cambridge Royal went the same way on Sunday evening, but that wasn't really a surprise. Our tenor ringer was suffering from a couple of night shifts and only four hours sleep. He dug a hole and various others tumbled into it. Not me for once though.
Ho hum, I'd have been better off in London this weekend, but that's how these things go. We'll crack the peal eventually. <determinedsmiley

Ah well, these things happen. I've never attemped a peal. I think I'd go nuts. I'd also lose my knees.
And as for the meet- well, the summer meet is being organised already!

Yes they happen, this particular peal seems to be fated though, it's the third time it's failed! We'll crack it eventually.
Concentrating for three hours on one line is the thing I find hardest about ringing peals. You can shuffle and wiggle around a bit occasionally when your legs start aching.

Bearing in mind I've only ever rung a quater, I'm sure my tactics are different, but I tend to let my legs lock, as they hurt less that way. They're also less likely to buckle under me. I try not to move. I save that for the end!

Each to their own, the more you do the easier it becomes. I couldn't stand in one position even for a quater but that's because of a wonky ankle.
The Liverpool dinner is fast approaching, a chance to ring at the cathedral.

Oh wow! What a place to ring! I've sung in the Catholic church, that's as close as I've got. Beautiful place, that one. Also the only time I've ever been to Liverpool.
Hmm. It's the Cambridge dinner soon, I think, we've been invited. Stll not sure as to go down there yet though.

I got to ring at an obscure place in Cambridgeshire this weekend... now where was it... not Meldreth.... Shepreth, I think it was. Nice, not-too-heave eight, lovely people. Well, I made up the eight, that's all that really mattered. Did ring call changes for all of the time, but hey. I even managed to not ring down too badly! (as we son't ring down at home, I've never had much practice at doing so).

I've not done any ringing round Cambridgeshire at all, an area for an outing methinks.
I know what you mean about ringing down, we always did in the tower I learnt in but I rarely have to now I ring in Newport.

Wha! I've just remembered- I dreamt about you last night! Aah!
Do you have mid-length, dyed blonde hair? That's about all I can remember, however. Disappointing.

I'm not sure if this is the best thread to intrude in, but Odo had a dream about (or certainly regarding) VIP that night as well.
That's a bit spooky, at least for me.
