William of Middenshire, Keeper of Mammals Beginning with "W" and Goatee Beards

Hello Bishop.

Are you perchance related to Bishop Odo of Bayeux, erstwhile companion of King William the First of England?

I think we should be told.

Ha ha, I've been spotted! smiley - biggrinYes I know Odo was a real person and a younger brother of Willian the Conqueror. I'm fairly certain that I'm not related to him in any way smiley - winkeye. Quite reassuring really he seems to have been a deeply unpleasant character, very much a kind of Black Adder figure! Although to survive all the political manoeuvring of those times you'd have needed to be quite a character!

The story behind me using this name is quite a long one but I like the name. It's great for the guide because when I first arrived I could be completely anonymous behind it!

Is Middenshire a place?

If you go to my space and click on the conversation "Middenshire," you will find out a little about this smallest county of England, sadly now defunct.

Pleased to make your acquaintance.

Did you find your way to the County of Middenshire?

I found it, smiley - biggrin

I'm only part way through though, they keep making me do this w**k stuff and I can only log in when I'm at work.

So how are things?

Oh, not too bad, thanks. Like you, I seem to spend all my time working. I work shifts, which sometimes seems more tiring than "normal" hours. The only bonus is that you miss rush hours.

I note you are keeper of the Secret Seal. I was recently appointed Keeper of Mammals beginning with "W" and Goatee Beards, so we sort-of share a common interest in keeping things.

Hope you like the Middenshire stuff. It started out as a bit of a joke and ended up as a hundred-odd pages of spoof history. I might even try to polish it up and get it published one day, if I can find a publisher mad enough!

Yours,

William smiley - smiley
