Do I have hospital magnet on my head ?
Wilma Neanderthal Posted May 23, 2007
I've done this. Several times. I *am* doing this as we squeak. By law the school has to have a bullying policy. You ask for it, you get it. Period. End of story.
Then you check their procedures in the policy and make sure they have followed them. They don't you speak to the head. No joy? You speak tot he parent governor, then the head of governors. then come back and we'll develop a startegy for you here.
S, I swear, I have had issues with my kids in *counts fingers* 5 schools all told now. And it is still ongoing. Once a kid is identified as 'different' for whatever trivial idiotic reason, they've had it. The kids cannot sort themselves out and 'behave'. They do a pecking order thing. The adults have to step in and create parameters for them.
The situation I am currently dealing with has taught me that it absolutely and definitely *can* be done. No question. All it takes is a heateacher with dangly bits (despite the fact she as girly as they come ). She's just stepped on it. Taken charge. Spoken harshly. <Monitors the situation on a weekly basis and is taking no prisoners. I am so impressed, I cannot tell you.
Took me awhile and a few schools to find this one though

Hi everyone, Serephina's hospital magnet seems to be at full power, as she's back in again tonight. She's fine though and is just being kept overnight as a precaution.
Josh is also fine, he's currently staying with Genie and is apparently milking his injury for all its worth. So as too get all the chocolate, crisps and waiter service he wants.
Thanks for all your kind words for both Serephina and Josh

I'm back home again now..hopefully to stay this time! They let me out about 4 yesterday afternoon and I went to Genie's till Ged got home from work with the keys (must get more cut!) then we went down to the pub for an hour or so with his brother who was paying a rare visit from manchester. I'm covered in bruises and a bit nervous but other wise fine at the mo
Josh is still trying to milk his arm but as hes not asked for pain killers in 2 days we're not falling for it mwahahaha
I spoke to the school again this morning and they are treating the incident as serious as it is. The head says shes seen the other boy and his parents and the kid is very very sorry, it went too far and he lost it for a moment..sounds like the wee lad is heartbroken to hear he hurt josh so badly..which doesn't surprise me too much as they
normally get on ok together.
I'm happy for the boys to say sorry n kiss n makeup as it were, but the head says if Josh has any worries or feels intimidated by the kid in any way after half term to let her know and it will be looked into further.

That sounds like a result. I hope it all works out for Josh.
Keir pushed one of his friends into the wall yesterday and slightly scrawped the other lad's face. They didn't talk all day, but it was forgotten this morning (especially when Keir went up to him and said 'Sorry about yesterday, can we still be friends - he's only 4, though so it's not quite the same thing)

Awww bless 'im
I'm happy to leave it as is now if the boyss obviously sorry. Theres no history of probs between them, theyve always got on infact and they'll be keeping an eye to make sure neither child is made to feel intimidated because of it.

*puts on midday assistants hat* (well, tabard really )
Although I've said other things elsewhere, Sereph, I think you are doing the right thing (and so is the school, more importantly). When my eldest was in Reception and experienced what I could only call bullying by another child in his class, I was horrified to hear (from the Head) that 'we don't call it bullying' What the was it then? Random acts of violence? The lad in question calmed down severely over the next few months, but his sister...(that's another story)
Anyway, back to midday assistants hat...one of the girls at my school today hit out, kicked and punched 3 different girls today. She was at my house last night and isn't known for 'random violent acts' (the opposite, in fact). I just hope when we start again 11th June she has knocked that out of her system! (She's quite sweet otherwise)
Kids will be kids, and sometimes thing escalate beyond all reason.
Give Josh a hug from me, please.
