Hi there, welcome to H2G2.
I'm Whisky, one of a group of researchers who've volunteered to wander round the site welcoming newcomers, we're called ACEs (Asst. Community Editors).... so....
Welcome
I'm sure you'll find out pretty quickly that this place can be a lot of fun, but one thing you might have noticed is that it seems a little complicated at first.
We've got round this by having a guided tour... if you just click on
<./>DontPanic-Tour</.>
It'll take you on the official guided tour.... don't forget to leave a tip at the end
Otherwise, having looked at your page, I see you're interested in music and poetry
There are a few clubs scattered over the site which you might find interesting...
A virtual Choral Society at A153792
The H2G2 Musicians Guild at A150368
There's a full list of all the clubs here: A626069.
Oh and if you're interested in reading, you should try PeerReview which is where you'll find all the entries people are trying to get into the edited H2G2 guide to Life, the Universe and Everything...
If you've any questions just hit reply, or look out for anyone with ACE after their name.
In the mean time, have fun and Don't Panic!
whisky
PS If you want to know how to do all these wonderful smileys etc. (there are hundreds of them... just click on any one of them and it'll magically take you to a page explaining everything.
PPS One other little point could you please turn off the Caps Lock on your keyboard - writing in capital letters sometimes makes people think you're shouting on this site
See you around

Thank you for your greeting and advice.
It was very kind of you. I am an ex LD user, so all of this is very strange to me.
I have only just decided to try it again, hence the time gap with regard to my reply. Sorry.
Again, thank you. Beth

hi Beth - I have just left you a reply to your message asking about ex LDers and also a link about using the plain skin (no graphics)

Don't worry about the delay in replying, it's nice to see you're giving us a second try
There are quite a few ex-LD users on here... have a quick glance at A1083935 for a nice intro from an ex-LD user, explaining how to get the best out of the site on a digibox (if you're still using one)
Welcome back anyway

Hello Mort, thank you for the msg. I have only been on here for a couple of days, and am on here through a digibox (telewest). I dont have a computor and so i really dont understand what you mean. lol.
I have no idea where to look for the advice you sent me. I'm so sorry to be such a thicko. Maybe as i go along I will understand more and more about all of this.
It just seems so very complicated and lots of reading... when all i want to do is meet new people and chat to them. PHEW... Thank you again darling. I was so excited to hear from someone..... lol
Hugs and hugs xxxxBethxxxx

It looks like you have subscribed to the 'don't panic help centre' this means that everyones postings asking for help will appear on your personal space (that's your homepage)
I would suggest unsubscribing from it. To do that just click on this link, and that should stop anymore irrelevant convos filling up your page.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/AddThreadFSB28171?cmd=unsubscribeforum&page=normal&desc=Return+to+the+Guide+Entry&return=A219638
Your page is full of alot of these old posts which you can remove from your page by clicking 'unsubscribe' under each of the old posts. But as you get involved in newer conversations then they will get pushed to the back of the list anyway. (don't worry - i know it sounds confusing, it is just cos they have built up over the last few months)
No wonder you couldn't find my reply

this is a copy of my other post...
hi there
A couple of good places for ex LD'ers are U201567 Friends of Leisure District
A913150 The FoLDers Arms Bar !
A814303 The list of ex Lders now on h2g2 – you may find and old friend there!
You may also be interested in knowing that you are a digibox user, or just have a slow connection, h2g2 is available without the graphics. It's a different ‘skin’ to the one you are probably using now and is called "plain". To find out more go to A948602 or to change your skin right away click this link -> http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/UserDetails and make sure "plain" is selected in the skin box then click "update details.
Hope this helps
Mort
