Hello all,
Office hours meant we got to this one a little late, but we really regret that this dispute has been going on for so long. We're very pleased that you've managed to contain it, and are extremely grateful to those trying to mediate.
However - since we've asked people repeatedly to stop restarting these arguments and they've continued to re-emerge - we'd like to make a few points:
We can't possibly monitor the motives of everyone in every thread and we're not interested in apportioning blame - but it's time these disputes stopped for good. If you can't agree on something then please just steer clear of one another.
At the same time, though, we'd like to point out that there are no private areas of h2g2; people are allowed to lurk if they wish. There are websites that provide forums for private discussion and we'd recommend you use them if you don't want an audience.
If this matter resumes, we'll be forced to use whatever actions are open to us, whether that's closing threads or considering action against individual accounts. It has taken up far too much of our time already and we don't have the resources to continue it.

I'm told by some that this was quite the fun thread before all 
broke loose.. might I suggest a great way of putting it in the past is to bury it deep in the backlog of real festivities?
