I know. Would you trust any organisation that would allow me to be in charge of other people's kids?

...

Especially as I ended up going out with one cadet who was on a camp I was one of the adults on.

Yes, I waited till after I was no-longer in a position of authority before I asked her out. However apparently all the other adults and some of the cadets guessed we'd end up going out together.

then three years later she ripped out my heart and stomped it into mush smiley - smiley

She's done her membership badge and got her uniform, I think she has to pass the first aid badge before she can go on active duty, not bad since she only started at the beginning of January

Did you have to buy the uniform yourself, or did the unit provide it?

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby)

I had to pay £20 towards it but she got a Jumper, shirt, belt, beret, tie and epaulettes for it, if she loses any of it I have to pay the full whack but if she grows out of it they'll replace it, the trousers I had to provide and they're still waiting for the Pouch

smiley - yikes Sounds like a lot of bits of uniform! But it's great that she's doing well. No sign of a smiley - choc badge then?

Proud Mum Alert

Post 55

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby)

No, the badges they get are a bit more practical

Proud Mum Alert

Post 56

NPY

That's reassuring. The badges have to be enjoyed, but have to serve some purpose too.

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby)

The first aid one is important because she can't actually do any first aiding without it but they do do others and can work towards a Duke of Edinburgh's Award if they want to

Proud Mum Alert

Post 58

NPY

Sounds good. Makes sense to do the badge first too.

So long as she's enjoying it too. The number of kids who go into something like that because their parents send them, and then fall out of it a few years later can be quite sad,. The you get a few who start at a young age and stay forever.
